Congress weighs Iran deal
President Trump lashed out at critics of the U.S.-Iran deal, saying the "fools" are "either jealous, bad people or stupid," as bipartisan opposition built in Congress.
“President Trump is lashing out at critics of the U”
Republican Senator Bill Cassidy called the deal "the worst foreign policy blunder in decades" and wrote on X that Iran's nuclear ambitions have not been curbed, 13 American service members are dead, and families have paid billions at the pump.

Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) said the agreement was a "mixed bag" and warned that "we'll look back on this and see a missed opportunity to basically eliminate the threat going forward."
Roger Wicker, the Republican chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said in a statement that he was "concerned that the memorandum of understanding negotiates away the victories of Operation Epic Fury" in ways out of step with the president's goals.
Democrats compare to JCPOA
Democrats said the 2015 Obama Iran deal known as the JCPOA had more favorable terms for the United States than the current memorandum of understanding with Iran.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) asked, "The accurate comparison is 'how does this agreement compared to when before the war started?'"

Schumer also said, "I have a list of about 20 Republicans already who have been skeptical of what Trump has done," adding, "When you have 20 Republicans skeptical of Trump, what Trump has done, you've really got to question how good a negotiator he was."
The Scripps News report also described a bipartisan coalition developing that has "serious issues with the agreement," even as some Republicans expressed support for the deal and for the president.
Vance defends 'win-win'
Vice-President J.D. Vance defended the "win-win" US-Iran agreement as critics slammed its vague provisions, telling reporters at the White House, "We have all the cards."
Vance urged, "Have a little bit of faith in the president of the United States," and said, "The idea that he is going to strike a deal that’s been bad for the American people, it’s preposterous."
The South China Morning Post reported that Trump punched back at those who criticised the memorandum of understanding (MOU) he signed on Wednesday, calling opponents "fools" who are "either 'jealous, bad people, or stupid'".
It also said the conflict, started by Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in late February, has seen Trump’s poll numbers sag, gas prices soar, and inflation mount ahead of the November US midterm election.
