Holmes Presses Harp
White House Rapid Response on X attacked CNN senior White House correspondent Kristen Holmes after she questioned President Donald Trump about comments by Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff concerning Trump’s relationship with executive assistant Natalie Harp during an Oval Office event on Monday.
““Someday, your children will come across your disgusting and inhumane question,””
Holmes asked Trump to respond to remarks by Ossoff about Harp while the president was hosting an event to honour a teenage lifeguard who rescued a child from dangerous waves, and the White House later accused Holmes of taking a “cheap shot” at Trump’s staffer during the ceremony.

In the same exchange, Trump confronted Holmes when she attempted to question him about North Korea, calling her “very disrespectful” and telling her to be quiet, and he also described her as “fake news” and a “fake reporter.”
CNN defended Holmes and criticised the White House for targeting journalists over questions asked in the course of their work, saying “personal attacks on journalists for asking questions are beneath the office.”
Ossoff’s Ballroom Critique
The dispute traces back to Ossoff’s campaign speech on Sunday, where he accused Trump of focusing on the construction of a new White House ballroom and travelling with Harp instead of carrying out his presidential duties.
Trump responded by mocking Ossoff as a “Pee-wee Herman lookalike” and defending the planned $400 million ballroom, while not directly addressing the senator’s comments about Harp.

During the Oval Office event, Holmes asked Trump to respond to Ossoff’s remarks about Harp, and the White House Rapid Response account on X said Holmes used the ceremony “to make a personal attack on a member of Trump’s staff.”
The White House later posted that “@POTUS hosts a hero lifeguard in the Oval Office and she uses it as an opportunity to take a cheap shot about one of President Trump’s staffers,” framing the question as an attack rather than a policy prompt.
Harp’s Role and Fallout
Beyond the immediate clash, the sources describe Harp as a figure whose presence around Trump has drawn attention, including a nickname tied to her frequent provision of printed information.
“She has been nicknamed the “human printer” because she regularly provides Trump with printed information”
Sahara Reporters says Harp has been nicknamed the “human printer” because she regularly provides Trump with printed information, and it adds that she was among the aides who travelled with the president during a July Air Force One aircraft swap.
El Economista frames Harp as an executive assistant who decides what documents reach Trump first and what messages and calls receive priority, and it says her role has been linked to the confrontation between Trump and CNN’s Kristen Holmes.
The controversy also feeds into a broader media fight, with Sahara Reporters describing it as “the latest clash between the Trump administration and members of the White House press corps over questions and coverage of the president,” while CNN’s statement said it stood by Holmes after the attacks.
