Officials say the DHS shutdown is nearing day 33, approaching the second-longest shutdown in history — partial shutdown and full government shutdowns combined — just behind the 2018-2019 shutdown.

The last government shutdown 2025 was also the longest in history, lasting 43 days from Oct. 1, 2025, to Nov. 12, 2025.
