There is no legal framing. No expert comment. No follow-up question. The most newsworthy fact in the piece — and the strongest evidence of unlawful conduct — is buried beneath standard 'trade fire' framing of an exchange that has, in fact, killed Lebanese to Israelis at a ratio of roughly 138 to 1.

The article quotes the IDF verbatim. It quotes no eyewitness, no doctor, no neighbour, and no local official from Saksakiyeh or Nabatieh. It paraphrases the Lebanese health ministry's casualty figures with an explicit caveat — and applies no equivalent caveat to the Israeli figures. It scare-quotes the neutral Arabic word shahid ('killed') as 'martyrs'. It reproduces the IDF euphemism 'uninvolved civilians' without challenge — a phrase that implies a category of 'involved' civilians who are legitimate targets, contrary to the IHL principle of distinction.
