The timeline. 19 May: Tunisian volunteer Mehdi Bouzguenda is detained near the Tunisian-Libyan border. 24 May: ten volunteers are seized in Sirte. 25 May: all communication with them is severed. 2 June: the Attorney General in Benghazi extends their detention by ten more days and returns them to the Illegal Immigration Detention Facility, with no judge, no lawyer and no way to challenge it. 8 June: Mehdi Bouzguenda is released; ten volunteers remain held in Libya.

This is arbitrary detention. The convoy is a civilian humanitarian mission carrying ambulances and life-saving medical aid to Gaza. Libya is a transit state party to the Geneva Conventions and is bound to facilitate humanitarian assistance. The detention extension is a political decision, not a legal process.
