More than 400 students from Gaza hold confirmed places at UK universities. Of those, over 160 have met every academic and visa requirement and are ready to be evacuated. Yet they remain trapped in Gaza, where ongoing airstrikes, severe food shortages, malnutrition and disease are life-threatening.

A Government review of humanitarian and refugee schemes is underway. But as of late May 2026 there has been no ministerial statement, no published findings, and no clarity on next steps. Each week of inaction risks further cancelled university places and irreparable harm to these students’ futures.

These students secured their offers under the most devastating circumstances imaginable. Their education is not only an academic opportunity, it is a lifeline, and a loss to UK higher education if they are abandoned.
