About this campaign

The fixtures. The Republic of Ireland men's team is scheduled to play Israel twice in the 2026-27 UEFA Nations League: on Sunday 27 September at the Nagyerdei Stadion in Debrecen, Hungary, and on Sunday 4 October at the TSC Arena in Backa Topola, Serbia.

The members have spoken. In November 2025 the FAI's General Assembly voted 74 to 7, on a motion brought by Bohemian FC, to formally request that UEFA suspend the Israel Football Association from its competitions for breach of UEFA statutes. The FAI conveyed that request to the UEFA Executive Committee. UEFA has not acted.

The Board plans to play anyway. The FAI Board has told members it intends to fulfil both fixtures, warning of forfeits and financial losses if Ireland refuses. More than one tenth of the FAI's members triggered an Extraordinary General Meeting, convened for 8 July 2026, to challenge that position.
