Umer Khalid, one of the ‘Brize Norton 5’, is currently being held on remand at HMP Wormwood Scrubs while facing serious deterioration in his health due to alleged medical neglect in prison.

Umer is a 22-year-old Muslim pro-Palestinian activist who has reportedly been imprisoned since August 2025 in connection with the Brize Norton 5 case. Supporters and loved ones say he has faced repeated mistreatment in prison, including restrictions on communication, denial of religious rights, and prolonged failures to provide adequate healthcare for his condition, Muscular Dystrophy.

After 10 months of incarceration, Umer has reportedly lost the ability to walk. Despite this, prison authorities are allegedly refusing to provide him with a suitable wheelchair and adequate pain medication. He is also said to have been waiting over 12 weeks for a Neurology appointment while his condition continues to worsen.
