Apple Rolls Out iOS 27 With Siri AI And CarPlay Updates Later In 2026

At WWDC 2026, Apple detailed updates arriving with iOS 27, including Apple CarPlay changes that will release later in 2026.

SlashGear says iOS 27 brings a revamped Siri rebranded as Siri AI, described as a “full-fledged AI tool with conversational intelligence” that can perform multi-step tasks across apps.

In CarPlay, Siri AI becomes a standalone app on a supported car’s infotainment screen, and a conversation started in the vehicle can be continued on the user’s iPhone after leaving the car.

SlashGear also says iOS 27 expands video streaming support by relaxing restrictions from iOS 26’s AirPlay streaming mode, while noting the car will only display video in park and can switch to audio-only playback once the car starts moving.

For Apple Music and Podcasts on CarPlay, SlashGear reports a mini player widget in the top-right corner and adds that users will be able to scrub through a song by tapping the play duration bar.

Mac4Ever frames iOS 27 as a system-level push for Apple Intelligence, citing clues in iOS code about enhanced visual recognition, automation in apps, and deeper AI integration.

It says visual recognition could expand to scan food labels to extract nutritional information and integrate it into the Health app, and could also automatically add contacts by recognizing a phone number or printed address.

Mac4Ever also describes a more advanced Siri expected with iOS 27, saying Cupertino is testing a standalone Siri app on iPhone, iPad, and Mac with a messaging-style interface enabling fluid exchanges.

In parallel, La Crème Du Gaming reports that WWDC 2026 will be held June 8-12 and ties iOS 27’s “redesigned conversational assistant” to a wave of AI tools integrated into the system.

TechCrunch adds that iOS 27 includes upgrades beyond Siri AI, including smarter bill splitting in Apple Wallet and new ways to share locations in Find My, with Find My controls designed to let users share location for a custom amount of time.

TechCrunch says Apple Maps gets improvements to “Flyover,” refreshed with more detailed visuals and smoother navigation, and adds “Local Lists” as a way to discover and save recommendations for restaurants and attractions within Maps.

For Find My, TechCrunch reports that beginning this fall users will be able to share location for a custom amount of time and temporarily pause location sharing with individual contacts until the end of the day.

In Apple Wallet, TechCrunch describes a feature that lets users scan receipts using their iPhone camera and automatically split bills with friends using Apple Cash, with Apple Intelligence identifying individual items on a receipt and calculating each person’s share of taxes and tips.

TechCrunch also says Apple Music expands “Lyrics Translation” to seven additional language pairings, including English translations for songs in French, German, Italian, Korean, Spanish, and Japanese, and adds “Lyrics Pronunciation” across five new language pairings.

Finally, TechCrunch reports that Podcast listeners get a “search within show” feature and that Apple is bringing video podcasts to both Mac and Apple TV, while iCloud Shared Albums and Fitness+ add new content including “Strong Through Menopause” and a “Time to Walk” episode featuring Busy Philipps.
