Fery rallies at Wimbledon
Arthur Fery kept the British flag flying at Wimbledon by out-battling Belgian Zizou Bergs to reach the last 16 on Saturday, despite nosebleeds and a match that swung repeatedly.
“British wildcard Arthur Fery beat Zizou Bergs in a five-set thriller to reach the Wimbledon fourth round and keep home singles hopes alive - despite suffering three nosebleeds during the match”
Fery, the 23-year-old wildcard, won 2-6 7-5 2-6 7-6(3) 7-6(5) on Court 18 after four hours and 38 minutes, with fans crammed around the court as he battled back from nowhere.

Reuters said the match featured a dramatic turn when Bergs moved 4-1 ahead in the fifth set but could not shake off Fery, whose nosebleed was his third of the match when he served at 4-5.
Fery told reporters, "I was just trying to back my fighting spirit and just use that to my advantage and just try and base my whole game around that. Just keep going," as he set up a last-16 meeting against either Grigor Dimitrov or Matteo Berrettini.
Nosebleeds, crowd, and quotes
The Sky Sports report said Fery overcame nose-bleed delays to beat Bergs in a five-set thriller, with three separate nosebleeds leading to medical delays that frustrated Bergs and prompted him to complain to the chair umpire.
After the victory, Fery said, "I was down for pretty much the whole match, managed to scramble back from two breaks and 4-1 in the fifth, and just tried to put up as much of a fight as I could."
Sky Sports also described the Court 18 setting as a 782-seater arena where Fery delighted fans and set up a last-16 encounter against either Grigor Dimitrov or Matteo Berrettini.
In the same match, the LTA said Fery was "the first British wild card to reach the last 16 at Wimbledon since 1993" after defeating Bergs on Court 18 in four hours and 40 minutes.
Next round and rankings
With the win, Fery moved into the last 16 and, according to Sky Sports, will move up to at least world No 91 when the new rankings are released after Wimbledon, becoming the new British No 2.
“Wimbledon 2026 | Schedule and order of play (Day 4) - Thursday, July 2 - Second Round - When do Zverev, Jódar, Munar, Swiatek, and Rybakina play”
The LTA report said the victory also sees him break into the world's top 100 for the first time in his career, with Fery already risen to world No.91 in the live ATP rankings.
Sky Sports added that the result means he will not need to qualify for the US Open, and it placed him as the 13th British player in the Open era to reach the men's singles round of 16 at Wimbledon.
Looking ahead, the LTA said Fery is scheduled to play his fourth round match on Monday 6 July, with the opponent set as either Grigor Dimitrov for a place in the quarter-finals.
