Unity Week message

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei used “the Week of Unity” and the anniversary of the Prophet’s birth to call for unifying ranks within the Muslim world and strengthening cooperation among Islamic states and communities.

In the message, Khamenei urged rulers of Islamic states to “identify what they consider the real enemy, understand its moves, and confront it,” linking the United States and Israel to what he described as targeting the Islamic Republic and the Iranian people.

Khamenei also warned against moves that could provoke divisions within Islamic communities, saying internal splits serve the interests of the enemies of the Muslim world.

The message came as the sources describe continuing repercussions of the war in the Middle East region and rising tensions between Iran on one side and the United States and Israel on the other.

The same reporting says Khamenei stressed cooperation among Islamic countries and peoples should be based on “goodness, benevolence, and shared interest,” while calling for more coordination among Islamic countries rather than disputes that could intensify division.

Condemnation and resistance

Ayatollah Hussein Nouri-Homidani, in a letter to the 40th International Conference on Islamic Unity, said normalizing relations with Israel is “treason against the Islamic nation,” and framed unity as a religious duty.

Nouri-Homidani warned that any statement or action that leads to division among Muslims “undoubtedly serves the aims of Islam’s enemies,” and he cited Quran 8:46 in the message: “And obey God and His Messenger, and do not dispute, lest you lose heart and your strength should depart.”

At the same conference in Tehran, Lebanese scholar Sheikh Hassan Baghdadi said Imam Khomeini elevated Islamic unity into a strategic project linking it to the Palestinian cause and the establishment of International Quds Day.

Baghdadi also warned that “Today, more than ever, we need to adhere to this method and choose Islamic unity to stand against aggression and oppression,” while Seyyed Hassan Khomeini cautioned that Israel’s threats should not be viewed as confined to the current front lines.

The ABNA reporting says the conference opened in Tehran on Thursday and brought together hundreds of Muslim scholars and thinkers from around 40 countries under the theme of Islamic unity in the thought of the martyred Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Al-Manar TV Lebanon’s reporting includes a claim attributed to “Israel Hayom,” saying sources in the Israeli military reported growing concerns that some members of the Israeli government may be seeking escalation in the occupied West Bank for political reasons.

The same West Asian item also frames the broader message from Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei around the idea that “US, ‘Israel’ Are Enemies of All Muslims, Not Just Iran: Leader Urges Islamic Unity,” while linking the call for unity to resistance against external adversaries.

Anadolu Ajansı reported that Khamenei told rulers of Muslim nations to recognize the “true enemy,” accusing the US and Israel of being “sworn enemies” of Islamic unity.

Anadolu Ajansı further states that tensions in the Middle East have heightened since the US and Israel launched joint strikes on Iran in late February, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes on regional countries hosting US assets.

The Anadolu Ajansı account adds that Iran and the US signed a 14-point memorandum of understanding in June aimed at ending the war, but that the interim deal quickly faltered.
