B2C2 hires Jason Lai
Institutional crypto liquidity provider B2C2 appointed Jason Lai, the former chairman of Schroders Wealth Management Asia, as a senior adviser in Singapore to deepen ties with family offices, funds and asset managers across Asia-Pacific. CoinDesk said Lai is a veteran of Asia’s private wealth industry and the founder of Thirdrock Group, established in 2009, which Schroders acquired in 2019. Finance Magnates reported that the move is aimed at deepening B2C2’s relationships with funds, asset managers and family offices across the Asia-Pacific region.
B2C2’s hire comes as Boston Consulting Group projects that assets under management in the region will hit $99 trillion by 2029, with Singapore and Hong Kong anchoring the growth. Goldman Sachs data cited by Finance Magnates found that around a third of family offices worldwide already hold crypto in their portfolios.

On-chain growth and quotes
B2C2’s Asia push is framed around on-chain momentum, with CoinDesk citing Chainalysis that APAC was the world’s fastest-growing region for onchain activity in the year through June 2025. CoinDesk reported that transaction volume in Asia-Pacific surged 69% to $2.36 trillion, while India led global adoption rankings and Singapore and Hong Kong compete to establish regulated digital-asset hubs. In the press release, Lai said, “Asia's wealthiest families and managers are increasingly investing in digital assets,” and he added that “B2C2 has the liquidity and execution infrastructure this client base needs.”
Finance Magnates also quoted Lai saying, “B2C2 has the liquidity and execution infrastructure this client base needs,” and described the hire as extending a run of expansion moves in Asia-Pacific since APAC CEO David Rogers took over. Finance Magnates further tied the strategy to the broader shift of private wealth in Asia toward digital assets, citing Goldman Sachs and the same $99 trillion by 2029 projection.

SBI backing and next moves
B2C2 is backed by parent SBI Holdings, and CoinDesk said the firm is 90% owned by Japan's SBI Holdings as it targets further growth in payments, wholesale liquidity and services for family offices. Finance Magnates reported that B2C2 has been under Japanese financial group SBI Holdings' ownership since 2020 and cited company financials showing B2C2 generated JPY 57.14 billion in revenue in the fiscal year ended March 2024. Finance Magnates also said the firm turned a pre-tax profit of JPY 8.4 billion, with SBI attributing the growth to the firm's customer base expansion strategy.
CoinDesk added that the appointment follows a series of hires in Asia under APAC CEO David Rogers, including Laura Teo as Singapore country head. The CoinDesk report also referenced CoinDesk’s prior coverage that B2C2 “has held takeover talks with several potential acquirers over the past 18 months,” according to five people with knowledge of the matter.
