Jesus signs for Barça
FC Barcelona confirmed the transfer of Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus, signing him for three years in a deal worth £8.6m, or about 10 million euros, after the club failed to sign Julián Álvarez from Atlético de Madrid.

Sky Sports said Jesus completed the move on Deadline Day, with the Brazilian penning a deal until June 2029 at the Spotify Camp Nou.
The transfer follows Jesus’s Arsenal spell in which he scored 32 goals in 123 appearances, and Sky Sports News said the Barcelona pursuit of Julian Alvarez remains separate from the Jesus deal.
In his first comments after the move, Jesus said he has fulfilled a "dream" after completing his move to Barcelona from Arsenal, and he described training separately at Arsenal due to uncertainty over his future.
Flick, Deco and the fee
Barcelona’s manager Hansi Flick said he was "a little surprised we had the opportunity to get him" and added that he "really love[s]" Jesus’s style because it "fits with our style."
Flick also thanked sporting director Deco, saying "thanks to [sporting director] Deco because again he made an excellent job."
Sky Sports said Jesus’s move is not expected to impact Barcelona’s desire to sign Julian Alvarez, with Sky Sports News told they are completely separate.

Injuries, recovery and impact
Sky Sports said Jesus missed most of last year after picking up a knee injury in a January 2025 FA Cup tie against Manchester United, and it added that he managed just three Premier League starts last season.

At his Barcelona unveiling, Jesus said "I have strong faith in God and I knew that if I did things well, anything could happen," and he described receiving a message a week earlier that it could happen.
The New York Times reported that Jesus said at his first Barca press conference, "It all happened very quickly," and it quoted him saying he is excited and that his knee is no longer a problem.
The New York Times also said Jesus recorded six goals in 27 appearances last season, though he only made three starts in the Premier League, and it noted he missed the first three months of the campaign due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained in January 2025.
