Trump berates Netanyahu

A newly published book by journalists Magi Haberman and Jonathan Swan says U.S. President Donald Trump sharply criticised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a 2025 phone call about Gaza ceasefire negotiations.

The book’s account, as described by Al-Jazeera Net, says Trump told Netanyahu: "all the Jews are sick of you," while the call included senior U.S. aides Jared Kushner and Steve Weitkoff.

Al-Jazeera Net also says Trump reviewed a list of controversial decisions he had taken to support Israel during his two terms as president, without detailing them, and that the call took place in September of last year.

Anadolu Ajansı similarly reports the book’s claim that Trump told Netanyahu: "Everybody’s sick of you, Bibi. All the Jews are sick of you. Even the two Jews on this call are sick of you."

Anadolu Ajansı adds that the book says the conversation took place during the UN General Assembly in September 2025 while Trump was promoting a 20-point plan aimed at ending the war in Gaza and rebuilding the territory.

Qatar strike and aides

The book excerpts described by TRT World say Israel carried out an air strike targeting Hamas leaders in Qatar as they met to discuss a possible ceasefire agreement, and that the strike did not eliminate the senior Hamas figures it sought to kill but resulted in deaths of several lower-ranking Hamas members and a Qatari security guard.

TRT World says that after the incident, Qatar declined to continue serving as a mediator in negotiations between Israel and Hamas, and that the excerpts do not make clear whether Trump’s frustration during the phone call was connected to the Qatar strike.

TRT World also reports that the book says Witkoff and Kushner warned U.S. President's Chief of Staff Susie Wiles that Netanyahu could try to call Trump and derail the Gaza peace plan.

Al-Ain Al-Ikhbariyah adds that the book account says Kushner and Weitkoff expressed strong anger at the Israeli side and considered that the information provided by Netanyahu ally Ron Dermer was not accurate.

Al-Ain Al-Ikhbariyah further says the book describes discussions on a draft American peace plan with Qatari officials during meetings on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, with Qatari officials making direct amendments to the document.

Ceasefire deal and war toll

TRT World says the Gaza ceasefire agreement entered into force on October 10 2025, and that in its first phase steps such as prisoner exchange, increased humanitarian aid entry and partial withdrawal of the Israeli army from some areas were implemented.

Al-Jazeera Net says that since the start of the Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 173,000 others injured, alongside widespread destruction affecting 90% of the civilian infrastructure in the Strip.

Al-Jazeera Net also says the Israeli strike on Doha came at a time when the United States was seeking to reach a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement, and that this represented a turning point from the perspective of several Trump administration officials.

Ain Libya reports that Trump threatened to end ongoing talks between Washington and Tehran immediately if it is proven that Iranian commitments regarding freedom of navigation are not accurate and that no fees or additional charges are imposed on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

In the same Ain Libya account, Trump warned: "If this information is wrong, the negotiations will end immediately."
