Coco Gauff beat Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 on Tuesday on Centre Court to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals for the first time, after fighting back from a set down.
“Coco Gauff beats Jessica Pegula to reach Wimbledon semifinals Coco Gauff overcame a shaky start and beat Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 to reach the Wimbledon semifinals for the first time LONDON -- Coco Gauff overcame a shaky start and beat Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 on Tuesday to reach the Wimbledon semifinals for the first time”
The Guardian said Gauff overcame an error-strewn start that included four double faults and 17 unforced errors in the opening set, before producing just three more double faults and only 15 unforced errors across the final two sets.

Gauff will face Karolina Muchova for a place in the final, after the women’s draw’s highest seed remaining set up the last-four clash.
The New York Times described Gauff’s approach as “playing anti-grass,” saying she dragged Pegula into a loopier, deeper and scratchier kind of match.
In the same match, Pegula threatened immediately in the decider, but Gauff held firm before striking first herself, then closed out the win with her fourth consecutive three-set victory at the Championships this year.
Quotes and match turning
Gauff said she adjusted after rushing out of points too early, telling reporters, “I just really homed in on my game and realised I don’t have to play a spectacular point every time to win.”
Pegula responded by crediting the pressure Gauff created, saying, “She made me feel uncomfortable. I started off returning really well and put a lot of pressure on her serve right from the beginning.”

The Guardian reported that a pair of double faults from Gauff gifted Pegula an immediate break in the first set, and that another double fault handed Pegula the initiative once more as she served out the opener.
CBS Sports added that Gauff converted break point chances at a higher rate, noting she was “a perfect 5-for-5 converting break point chances, while Pegula was 3-for-7 when she had break point.”
WTA Tennis said the match lasted 1 hour and 48 minutes, and described Gauff’s run as a habit this year with three-set wins that earned her a spot in the semifinals for the first time.
Semifinal stakes and next
With the win, Gauff became the youngest player to reach the semifinals at all four Grand Slams since Maria Sharapova, who completed the feat at the 2007 French Open, according to the News-Herald.
“The headliner of Tuesday's morning session at Wimbledon was the all-American showdown on Centre Court between No”
The News-Herald said Gauff will face 10th-seeded Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic for a spot in the July 11 final, after Muchova eliminated Naomi Osaka, 7-6 (4), 6-4, on No. 1 Court.
The Guardian reported that Gauff is now the highest seed remaining in the women’s singles draw and will face Karolina Muchova for a place in the final.
For the semifinal matchup, Forbes said Gauff leads Muchova 6-1 and that the women’s semis are on Thursday, with Gauff aiming to reach the final after her comeback against Pegula.
In the same quarterfinal, the temperature at Wimbledon was reported by ABC News as 29 Celsius degrees (84 Fahrenheit) and expected to rise to 31 C (88 F), while Gauff asked the chair umpire, “Do you guys have an ice pack?” during the match.
