An Interior Ministry security source said authorities detected a clip showing a young man inside the rear box of a car announcing he was being kidnapped, and investigative teams began reviewing the video to determine the circumstances and the vehicle’s route.

The same security narrative says police tracked the car and intercepted it before it reached its destination in Shubra al-Khima, freeing the young man and arresting the suspects.

Interior Ministry Source Details

Sky News Arabia quoted an Egyptian Interior Ministry security source saying authorities spotted a clip showing a young man being held inside the car’s rear box and talking about being kidnapped by two people connected to his brother.

The source told Sky News Arabia that search teams immediately examined the video and traced the car’s route, allowing them to seize the suspects and rescue the young man in record time.

The account also describes the victim being held inside a cooling box in a “light transport vehicle” as the suspects moved him toward Shubra al-Khayma in Qalyubiya governorate.

In the same narrative, the kidnapping plan ended because the suspects forgot to seize the phone, and the victim used it to bring the crime to light before the car reached its destination.

Law, Charges, and What’s Next

Investigations described the case as starting over a financial dispute, with the suspects demanding the debtor’s brother repay for goods obtained but not paid for on the agreed date.

Sky News Arabia quoted Egyptian lawyer and executive director of the General Office of Law Firm and Legal Consultations, Ali Al-Muhamadi, saying that “Article 290 of the Egyptian Penal Code” punishes abduction through deceit or coercion with a hard prison sentence of not less than 10 years.

The same legal commentary said that if the kidnapping is accompanied by a demand for ransom, the punishment rises to a hard prison term of 15 to 20 years, while the final legal description depends on the prosecutor and the court based on investigation circumstances and evidence.

A separate report said the Barqa Al-Sabe police station received a report from the owner of a food goods warehouse that two merchants abducted his son using a pickup truck with a “refrigerator” box, and after the suspects were arrested they confessed to committing the crime in connection with the financial disputes.
