Powerful explosions struck a Syrian army weapons depot in the vicinity of the town of al-Eis, south of the city of Aleppo, injuring at least four people, according to state media SANA. Faisal Mohammad Ali, head of civil defence operations in Aleppo, told SANA that rescuers evacuated four injured people from the site, while “ongoing explosions” prevented rescue teams from reaching the area.

Aleppo Governor Azzam al-Gharib urged residents to remain inside their homes until further notice, and he said “hospitals, ambulance teams and rescue teams are on full alert.” Security forces closed roads leading to the site of the explosions to ensure the safety of civilians, and the Aleppo–Damascus road was temporarily closed before reopening after a halt.
