FBI raids Swalwell
Federal agents seized electronic devices from former Rep. Eric Swalwell and executed search warrants as part of a criminal probe into allegations of sexual misconduct, CBS News reported based on two sources familiar with the matter.
“One of the warrants was executed Saturday night after Swalwell landed at San Francisco International Airport”
CBS News said one warrant was executed Saturday night after Swalwell landed at San Francisco International Airport, and a second targeted his residence in Washington, D.C., executed on Sunday.

Scripps News said federal agents seized Swalwell’s devices at the San Francisco airport on Saturday and searched his Washington home a day later, citing a person familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Scripps News added that a message seeking comment was left Thursday with an attorney for Swalwell, who has denied allegations of sexual assault and misconduct.
Denials, ethics, and files
The raids came months after Swalwell ended his gubernatorial bid and in April over allegations of sexual assault and other misconduct from several women, CBS News said.
CBS News reported that Swalwell acknowledged making "mistakes in judgment," but said an assault allegation was "false" and vowed to fight it.
CBS News also said the White House released declassified documents on the FBI's investigation into Swalwell regarding his alleged relationship with a suspected spy more than a decade ago, and that Swalwell was never charged in the matter.
Scripps News said the office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg confirmed in April that it was investigating Swalwell after a former staffer told CNN and the Chronicle that Swalwell raped her at a hotel while he was in New York City for a charity gala in 2024.
Criminal probes and scope
The Independent reported that the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department have opened criminal investigations into Swalwell, and that the House Ethics Committee also opened a probe prior to Swalwell’s resignation.

The Independent said Swalwell resigned from Congress in April after multiple women came forward publicly with accusations ranging from rape to sexual misconduct, and that Swalwell has denied the accusations against him.
The Independent described the FBI investigation as potentially related to sexual assault allegations and said it was unclear what the exact subject of the FBI investigation was.
Scripps News said the person familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity was not authorized to publicly discuss an ongoing investigation, and that federal agents executed a search warrant at Swalwell’s home a day after the airport seizure.
