Stabbing death in Sheffield
A newborn baby girl was found stabbed to death at a property in Holywell Heights, in the Wincobank area of Sheffield, after South Yorkshire Police were called on Sunday morning over reports of concern for the infant’s safety.

Police said a post-mortem examination identified the baby’s cause of death as resulting from stab wounds, and officers pronounced the infant dead at the scene.
Four people were charged with murder after the newborn’s death, with two men and two women to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, and a 15-year-old girl charged with perverting the course of justice.
South Yorkshire Police said the four charged individuals were accused of murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and perverting the course of justice by taking steps to conceal the killing of an infant.
Det Ch Insp Tom Woodward said the charges were “a significant step in our investigation into the tragic circumstances that resulted in the death of this baby girl.”
Police urge no speculation
Det Ch Insp Tom Woodward told reporters that “We would ask the public to avoid speculating and posting information online about this case while the legal process takes it course.”

The BBC reported that the five charged people were remanded in custody and due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court later, while two women aged 26 and 37 remained on bail.
Radio News Hub said the five defendants are in custody and will appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, and it described the 15-year-old girl as unable to be named for legal reasons due to her age.
Police said officers searched a property on Holywell Heights and found the baby after being called to the Wincobank area on Sunday morning.
Names, custody, and next court
The BBC listed the charged suspects as Peter Horvath, aged 19, of Holywell Heights, Sheffield; Andrea Skopova, aged 20, formerly of Robey Street, Sheffield; Nina Horvathova, aged 37, of Holywell Heights, Sheffield; and Peter Horvath, aged 38, of Holywell Heights, Sheffield.

The BBC said the 15-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with perverting the course of justice, and that all five had been remanded in custody.
Radio News Hub said Andrea Skopova, 20, Peter Horvath, 19, Peter Horvath, 38, and Nina Horvathova, 37, were charged with three offences, including murder, and that the five defendants are in custody.
The BBC reported that two women, aged 26 and 37, who were arrested on suspicion of murder remain on bail, while police continued to be in and around Holywell Heights carrying out inquiries.
With the case moving toward court, Radio News Hub said the defendants will appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, as South Yorkshire Police maintained the murder investigation following the stabbing death.
