Hezbollah strikes, Israel retaliates
Hezbollah said it carried out 25 rocket and drone attacks against Israeli sites, targeting northern and central Israel and Israeli forces near the border in southern Lebanon, in response to what it described as ongoing Israeli strikes on Lebanese towns and villages.
“Hezbollah says it has carried out 25 rocket and drone attacks against Israeli sites”
Anadolu reported that Hezbollah launched attacks on the Israeli city of Nahariya at different times and targeted Kiryat Shmona with rocket fire, while it also said it struck the Ya'ara barracks with loitering drones and hit the Meron air-traffic-control and surveillance base in northern Israel.
The same Anadolu account tied the escalation to a wider cycle of strikes, saying that since March 2 Hezbollah began attacking Israeli military sites in response to Israel’s repeated strikes on Lebanon and the elimination of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in an American-Israeli strike.
Lebanese Health Minister Rakan Nasser El Din said the attacks had killed 687 people, including 98 children, and injured 1,774, while Anadolu said Israel retaliated with airstrikes on southern suburbs of Beirut and a limited ground incursion into southern Lebanon on March 3.
In parallel, Anadolu said Hezbollah targeted gatherings of Israeli troops near the border at sites including Merkaba, Blat, Tel al-Hamamess, Jabal Warda and Adaisseh using rockets and artillery shells.
Drones, deaths, and blame
Al-Hurra described how an Israeli soldier was killed and six others were injured in a drone attack in Taybeh on the southern border with Lebanon on April 26, saying the weapon was a fiber‑optic guided drone launched by Hezbollah fighters.
Al-Hurra said a spool of fiber‑optic cable alone can reach a range of up to fifty kilometers, and it added that on AliExpress and other sites a ten‑kilometer spool costs about $168.

In a separate account, Yedioth Ahronoth said there was “great concern and frustration within the Israeli army” over Hezbollah drones reaching troops operating deep in southern Lebanon at night.
The same Yedioth Ahronoth report said the first incident occurred on Saturday when Staff Sergeant Michael Tuekin was killed, and it quoted an unnamed reconnaissance soldier from the Givati Brigade saying, “It's unusual for a drone to target a military force at night. This has not happened before with combat troops.”
Yedioth Ahronoth also reported that an unnamed soldier told a colleague’s visit that “Fifteen people were killed during what was supposed to be a ceasefire” while “there is no actual ceasefire.”
Ceasefire terms and border sirens
A joint statement reported by Al-Ghad said Lebanon and Israel agreed on Wednesday to implement a ceasefire after negotiations in Washington aimed at ending the conflict, with the ceasefire conditional on Hezbollah’s full cessation of fire and removal of all its elements from the Litani sector.
“On April 26, an Israeli soldier was killed and six others were injured in a drone attack in the town of Taybeh on the southern border with Lebanon”
Al-Ghad quoted the joint statement saying the two sides agreed to expedite “the establishment of experimental zones under full control of the Lebanese army,” with any parties not belonging to the state kept away.
Al-Ghad also reported that Israeli air-raid sirens sounded in northern Israel near the border with Lebanon after detecting an “intruding aircraft,” with one incident under control and a second turning out to be a false alarm.
In an Israeli army statement on its Telegram account, Al-Ghad quoted: “After the blaring of sirens a short while ago regarding an intruding hostile aircraft in the Kfar Yuval area, a suspicious aerial target was identified,” adding that “the incident has ended and no injuries were reported.”
Meanwhile, Naharnet said Israel’s Foreign Ministry accused Hezbollah of serving Iran’s interests and posted on X that “Yesterday evening and again this morning, the Iranian terror regime's proxy, Hezbollah, launched drones at Israel from Lebanon, in (a) blatant violation of the ceasefire.”
