Stanislav Carpiuc deported from the UK after conviction for arson against Starmer-linked properties. He was sentenced to two years in prison for the arson plot.

Deportation after arson plot
The Home Office said Stanislav Carpiuc, 28, who was convicted over arson attacks targeting property connected to Sir Keir Starmer, has been deported from the UK. The attacks began on 8 May 2025 when a car Sir Keir had previously owned was found on fire on a street where he used to live in Kentish Town. A fire was discovered at flats linked to Sir Keir in nearby Islington on 11 May, and another fire was discovered at the entrance to Sir Keir's Kentish Town home on 12 May 2025.
Lavrynovych, a 22-year-old Ukrainian national, was sentenced to seven years imprisonment in June, while Carpiuc was sentenced to two years in prison in June. The Home Office spokesperson said, "This individual has now been deported from the UK," referring to Carpiuc.

Telegram handler and payments
The BBC said an anonymous handler known as EL promised payment to Carpiuc's accomplice, Roman Lavrynovych. The handler EL offered Russian citizenship in return for other attacks and glorified President Vladimir Putin. The Old Bailey trial described the Russian-speaking Telegram user as "El Money," and the court heard it offered Lavrynovych £3,000 in cryptocurrency if the blazes were filmed and got on the news.
The Home Office spokesperson said, "You will be caught and face severe consequences," as the Home Office confirmed Carpiuc had been removed from the UK. The BBC said a BBC investigation revealed the arson attacks were part of an extensive campaign of sabotage, provocation and lies leading all the way to the Russian state.

Targeted homes and investigation
Sky News said the Old Bailey heard that a Toyota RAV4, which once belonged to the prime minister, was set alight in Kentish Town in the early hours of 8 May 2025. A fire was started at the door of an Islington flat where Sir Keir had previously lived on 11 May, and on 12 May 2025 Sir Keir's constituency home was attacked. Judith Alexander, Sir Keir's sister-in-law, described hearing bangs and seeing smoke as her partner and daughter slept.
The BBC said the attacks took place while Sir Keir was prime minister, and the BBC said the handler EL was identified as a young Russian diplomat. The Home Office spokesperson said, "This was an abhorrent attack and the conviction and imprisonment of these men should send a clear message to anyone blinded by the promise of money from strangers."
