- IRGC claims the operation hit 85 American facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain.
- CENTCOM says it struck about 90 Iranian targets in retaliation.
Strikes and counterstrikes
The United States and Iran traded strikes in exchanges that continued into Thursday after Tehran launched more strikes following a second round of US attacks in southern Iran.
“Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said Thursday that it targeted infrastructure and facilities at US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, vowing not to "leave the US military's aggressions unanswered”
The BBC reported that Iran said 14 people have been killed in the past two days, while state media reported targets near the Bushehr nuclear power plant were hit, citing the deputy governor of the province.

US Central Command said it struck 90 Iranian military targets, including air defense systems and military logistics infrastructure along Iran's coastline, and said the latest strikes were carried out to "further degrade Iran's ability to attack commercial shipping and innocent civilian mariners" in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran’s parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who is also the country’s chief negotiator with the US, said on X that America "still hasn't learned that bullying and breaking promises are no longer cost-free" as the Strait of Hormuz would open only under Iranian arrangements.
The BBC also cited Phil Belcher of Intertanko saying the number of ships travelling through the Strait via the southern route closer to Oman was now in "single figures" after the step up in hostilities.
IRGC missile claims
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said its missile strike constituted the second phase of Iran's response to the US military's recent aggression, and it said at 2:20 pm local time its Aerospace Force launched 10 ballistic missiles that struck a US command and control center in West Asia and the American air base at Al Azraq in Jordan.
The IRGC warned that if the "terrorist US military" repeats its attacks against Iran, other American bases across the region "will not be spared from our heavy fire."
In a separate claim, IranWire said the IRGC launched targeted missile and drone strikes against vital infrastructure at four major American military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, naming Camp Arifjan and Ali Al Salem in Kuwait and Naval Support Activity Bahrain / Juffair and Isa Air Base in Bahrain.
IranWire also quoted Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on X accusing the United States of "bullying and breach of trust," writing: "If you hit, you will get hit back."
Kurdistan24 reported that Iranian state television announced rail services between Tehran and Mashhad had been suspended following the US strikes, with the disruption coming just hours before the burial of Iran's late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Mashhad.
Diplomatic and regional stakes
The BBC said Iran’s foreign ministry denounced the latest US strikes as a "grave war crime" and described the US administration as "evil and psychopathic," while also saying bridges and a railway route connecting Tehran to Mashhad were damaged.
The BBC reported that Iran’s health ministry said 14 people had been killed and 78 people injured across five provinces, and it said Gulf nations reported Iranian attacks after the US strikes, including explosions in Bahrain’s capital Manama and Kuwait intercepting missiles and drones.
IranWire said Amir Saeid Iravani, the Permanent Representative of Iran to the United Nations, dispatched separate letters to the President of the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General, characterizing the US military operations as a "blatant violation of the United Nations Charter" and a "breach of Clause 1 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding."
The BBC also reported that US Central Command said the most recent round of strikes was carried out to "further degrade Iran's ability to attack commercial shipping and innocent civilian mariners" in the vital waterway, and Phil Belcher said the overall daily figure of about 30 ships was down from about 70 a week ago and well below the normal number of 130 ships seen before the Iran war began earlier this year.
Kurdistan24 said the latest exchange raised fears of a wider regional conflict involving Gulf states hosting U.S. forces, and it warned that the conflict could expand beyond Iranian territory and threaten Gulf security, international shipping routes and global energy markets.
