Iran Kills Seventh U.S. Service Member After Attack on Saudi Military Base
U.S. combat fatality update
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that a U.S. service member died overnight from wounds sustained in a March 1 attack in Saudi Arabia.
The death brings American combat fatalities in the Iran-related fighting to seven.
The service member’s identity is being withheld pending family notification and will be released 24 hours after next-of-kin are informed.
CENTCOM described the death as the seventh KIA during what one outlet termed "Operation Epic Fury."
Shuaiba port attack aftermath
The March 1 wave of attacks included an Iranian strike that killed six Army Reserve soldiers at a makeshift U.S. operations center at the Shuaiba civilian port in Kuwait.
Their remains were returned to the United States in a dignified transfer at Dover Air Force Base attended by President Trump.

Several outlets noted the latest announcement came a day after that ceremony and the arrival of the six fallen reservists from the 103rd Sustainment Command.
Regional strikes and casualties
Reporting emphasized the wider regional escalation tied to the early Feb. 28–March 1 exchanges.

Iranian retaliatory strikes and subsequent fighting have caused casualties and damage across the region.
Multiple outlets cited dozens to hundreds of casualties and continuing cross-border strikes involving Israel, Bahrain and Lebanon.
U.S. officials also reported strikes and injuries to U.S. personnel across Gulf bases during the initial Iranian attacks and subsequent exchanges.
Conflicting U.S. casualty tallies
Several outlets highlighted gaps and differing tallies in the public record.
CENTCOM did not disclose where in Saudi Arabia the troop had been wounded or how many others were hurt in that attack.

Some reporting noted an additional U.S. National Guard death in Kuwait on March 6 that is being treated as health-related and is under review.
Including that death brings some counts to eight total U.S. military deaths.

U.S.-Iran military tensions
Political and military rhetoric intensified alongside the casualty announcements.
President Trump, at the Dover ceremony and elsewhere, warned Iran it would be hit "very hard" and was reported to have said U.S. forces had knocked out elements of Iran's air force and communications.

Iranian officials warned against escalation and said their forces were prepared to respond.
U.S. commanders and the Pentagon said strikes have continued against Iranian-linked targets.
