Iranian Missile And Drone Attack Kills One, Wounds Dozens At Kuwait International Airport

An Iranian missile and drone attack hit Kuwait International Airport, killing one person and wounding dozens more as the ceasefire between Iran and the U.S. looked increasingly fragile, according to Kuwait and CBS News.

The Washington Post said U.S. forces targeted Qeshm Island while Iran fired missiles and drones at Bahrain and Kuwait, and it reported that the attack caused significant damage to Kuwait International Airport, which suspended flights after the attack.

Kuwait’s foreign ministry said at least one person has been killed, and Al Jazeera reported that at least 63 people were injured in Iran’s attack, including airport workers and passengers, citing Kuwait’s health ministry.

AP said Kuwait said Iranian drones heavily damaged a passenger terminal at its main airport, killing one person and wounding dozens, and it reported the airfield was briefly closed before reopening later with flights resuming at a different terminal.

Iran denied firing at Kuwait’s airport and blamed the damage on a U.S.-made Patriot missile that failed to hit Iranian targets, while CENTCOM rejected that claim and said Iranian drones made a “deliberate, calculated and unjustified attack,” according to the BBC.

The BBC also reported that IRGC spokesman Hossein Mahbi said investigations showed that Iranian forces did not fire missiles at Kuwait International Airport, and it quoted CENTCOM’s position that Iran struck a civilian airport with unmanned aircraft.

In Washington, CBS News said the House passed a war powers measure to force President Trump to end the war with Iran without congressional authorization, and it reported the House vote was 215 to 208 with four Republicans helping approve the resolution.

CBS News also quoted President Trump defining a ceasefire as “when you’re shooting in a more moderate manner,” and it said Trump insisted talks were “going on continuously.”

Kuwait’s foreign ministry said it would “neither accept nor tolerate” the attacks and was kicking out two Iranian diplomats, while the BBC reported the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry summoned Iran’s chargé d’affaires and handed him a formal protest memorandum.

Sky News Arabia said the emergency plan was activated at Kuwait International Airport after drones and Iranian missiles targeted a building inside the airport, and it reported that Kuwait’s General Authority of Civil Aviation announced the activation of the emergency plan.

CBS News reported that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the fate of Iran’s highly enriched uranium stockpiles is at the center of talks, and it quoted Rubio telling the House Foreign Affairs Committee that Washington still “don’t have final sign off from their system as of this morning.”

CBS News also reported Speaker Mike Johnson said he spent three hours at the White House with President Trump, Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and it quoted Johnson calling on allied nations to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz for commerce.
