Checkpoint death in Ramallah

A four-month-old Palestinian boy, Ahmad Marouf Zeid, died after an Israeli military checkpoint west of Ramallah blocked access to urgent medical care, according to Ramallah and el-Bireh governor Laila Ghannam, who said doctors at the Arab Specialised Hospital confirmed his death on Sunday evening after Israeli forces prevented his transfer for more than an hour.

Ghannam said Israeli soldiers fired tear gas to stop Palestinians trying to pass through the checkpoint at the entrance to the village of Deir Ammar, and she described what happened to Ahmad, the family’s only son, as “a stain on the conscience of humanity.”

In the same occupied West Bank area, Israeli forces shot dead a 16-year-old boy at the Qalandiya refugee camp near Ramallah, while two other boys aged 14 were wounded, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

The Al Jazeera report also said an Israeli drone targeted a crowd of Palestinians in Omar al-Mukhtar Street in the heart of Gaza City on Sunday, killing at least two people and wounding several others, while Gaza’s Health Ministry said Israeli army violations of the “ceasefire” with Hamas have killed 1,066 people and wounded 3,445 others.

Across the war’s timeline, the Gaza Health Ministry added that the overall death toll from Israel’s “genocidal war on Gaza” since October 2023 has reached 73,090, with 173,550 others injured.

Qalandia teen killed

The Palestinian health ministry said Israeli forces fatally shot a 16-year-old boy, naming him as “Sixteen year old Waleed Nidal Waleed Abu Sneineh,” and it said two other boys aged 14 were injured in the incident at the Qalandia refugee camp near Ramallah.

The Arab News account said the Israeli military did not immediately respond to a request for comment, while it placed the killing within a wider escalation in the West Bank since the start of the Gaza war in October 2023.

In a separate Al Jazeera report, Palestinians buried the teenage boy killed during the raid on the Qalandia refugee camp north of Jerusalem, and WAFA, quoting the Palestinian Ministry of Health, said the child “was martyred, and two other children were injured by occupation forces' fire in the limbs in Qalandia Camp.”

Al Jazeera also reported that during the raid occupation forces arrested 3 youths and snipers spread on roofs and began firing live rounds in Qalandia camp, describing the camp as located on a main road linking Jerusalem and Ramallah.

The Al Jazeera report further cited the Palestinian Committee Against the Wall and Settlements saying the Israeli army and settlers carried out 1,659 attacks in the West Bank during May, including East Jerusalem, with 1,108 by the army and 551 by the settlers.

Gaza strikes and West Bank raids

On Monday, SANA reported that Israeli strikes killed four Palestinians in Gaza City and Khan Younis while Israeli occupation forces carried out raids and arrests across the West Bank, citing Palestinian media.

SANA said WAFA reported two Palestinians were killed and others injured when Israeli warplanes struck an apartment in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood, southwest of Gaza City, and it added that a separate attack killed two Palestinians and wounded 15 others after an Israeli drone targeted a vehicle on al-Rashid Street in the al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis.

In the West Bank, SANA said about 30 Israeli settlers attacked homes and farmland in the town of Yatta south of Hebron after the closure of the town’s main entrance, and it reported that Israeli occupation forces detained five Palestinians in Nablus after raiding and searching their homes.

SANA also described movement disruption as Israeli forces set up a military checkpoint at the entrance to the town of Imatin, stopping vehicles and checking passengers’ identification cards, and it said forces detained two Palestinians from Biddu and Beit Surik after raiding and searching their homes northwest of occupied Jerusalem.

The same SANA report said on Sunday a Palestinian child was killed and two others were injured by Israeli occupation forces during a raid on Qalandia refugee camp north of occupied Jerusalem, while it continued to frame the broader pattern as raids and arrests across the occupied territories.
