Kfar Rumman strikes
Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon killed at least 12 people on Monday, Lebanon's health ministry said, with one strike hitting a building in Kfar Rumman and killing 11 people including two children and four women.

Reuters said the attack on Kfar Rumman came without an online evacuation warning, and Reuters reporters saw children's schoolbooks strewn between chunks of concrete where the building once stood.R
The Israeli military said the strikes were in retaliation for two Hezbollah drone attacks that targeted Israeli troops in Lebanon from the area on Monday, and it said it targeted a Hezbollah militant trying to transport weapons to Kfar Rumman.
In a separate strike, Lebanon's health ministry said another strike on a car in the village killed a paramedic with the Lebanese Islamic Risala Scout Association and wounded two others.
The BBC described the broader incident as a fire-and-forget escalation in which dozens of garment workers were killed when fire swept through a four-storey factory outside Dhaka late Saturday, which is unrelated to Lebanon.
Retaliation and warnings
Israel said it struck Hezbollah “infrastructure sites” across southern Lebanon after the launch of two explosive drones towards its troops, and it said it would continue to operate to remove threats while remaining committed to the ceasefire agreement.
France 24 reported that Israel issued no warning to Kfar Rumman before the strikes but released an evacuation order ahead of a separate attack in nearby Deir Zahrani, and it quoted resident Abbas Toufeili saying, "They called me at 2 am and told me to get out of the house because it is being targeted."
Reuters reported that Israel was reviewing the report that “uninvolved individuals” were harmed as a result of the strikes, while the Israeli military said steps had been taken to mitigate harm including the use of precise munitions and aerial surveillance.R
The BBC said Labour Minister Tahmina Akhter told reporters, "We will hold the owners fully accountable," which is about Bangladesh and not Lebanon.
Reuters also reported that fears of a renewed Israeli military campaign were mounting in Lebanon after days of escalating strikes despite a June ceasefire meant to halt fighting between the Israeli military and Lebanese armed group Hezbollah.R
Ceasefire strain and toll
The strikes came amid a weeks-long lull and after Israel said it had seized the strategic Ali al-Taher ridge from Hezbollah, a claim Hezbollah has not commented on, while Israel's foreign ministry accused Hezbollah of “repeated drone attacks” and “attempting to rebuild its military capabilities in southern Lebanon”.

Lebanon's Health Ministry figures cited by Al Jazeera said Israeli attacks since October 8, 2023, have killed more than 8,920 people and wounded more than 30,000, and the latest overnight deaths came after successive Israeli attacks across south Lebanon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Reuters said Israeli strikes on Lebanon have killed more than 4,300 people since Hezbollah launched rockets at Israel on 2 March, and it reported that the dead include more than 250 children, nearly 400 women and more than 130 medics according to Lebanon's health ministry.R
