Israeli Airstrikes Kill Four in Yahmor al-Shuqayf, Nabatieh District, After Hezbollah Rocket-Platform Attacks

The Israeli army said it targeted overnight rocket-launching platforms belonging to Hezbollah at three sites in southern Lebanon and urged residents of southern Lebanon not to cross and to return to 59 towns, renewing its warning to residents of southern Lebanon not to move south of the line of 20 villages and their surroundings.

In the Bent Jbeil district of the Nabatieh Governorate, Israeli forces launched airstrikes on towns including Frun, Safad al-Bateekh, and Haris, with the strike on Haris resulting in the death of a motorcyclist.

The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah began on April 17 and was extended after direct talks in Washington, but the same source said Israeli forces continued to carry out attacks, particularly in southern Lebanon, destroying dozens of villages and towns.

Lebanon accuses Israel of continuing the fighting, notably in the south of the country, as in the Litani River region, after a ten-day ceasefire came into effect on Friday, April 17, 2026, announced by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Lebanese officials and the Israeli army traded accusations over ceasefire violations, with the Lebanese army denouncing "a number of violations of the agreement, several Israeli acts of aggression having been recorded" and calling on those displaced to refrain from returning immediately to southern Lebanon.

On X, Emmanuel Macron expressed his "concern" that the ceasefire "could already be weakened by the continuation of military operations," and he called for security for civilians on both sides of the Lebanon-Israel border.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Truth Social that he had "forbidden" Israel to strike Lebanon, adding "That’s enough!!!" while Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said the Lebanon operation is "not over."

The Lebanese army called on displaced people to refrain from returning immediately to southern Lebanon, while the Israeli army renewed warnings asking residents not to move south of the line of 20 villages and their surroundings in the south.

The Israeli army also said its forces discovered an underground tunnel approximately 80 meters long containing several living quarters used by Hezbollah members, and after inspection and collection of evidence, the tunnel was destroyed by engineering forces.

The same reporting described massive traffic jams north of the Litani, with motorcyclists and drivers waiting for hours to cross the last bridge, heavily damaged by an Israeli bombardment linking southern Lebanon to the rest of the country.

According to authorities cited in the report, these strikes killed more than 2,000 people, and the UN figure given was that one million people, or a fifth of the country’s population, have been displaced.
