Police chief killed in strike

An Israeli drone strike in Gaza City on Saturday killed Brig. Gen. Abdul Nasser Mohammad Al-Muqaddama, director of the North Gaza Police Directorate, according to the Gaza-run Interior Ministry.

Shafaq News said the drone targeted a bicycle near Al-Ghazali Junction in northern Sheikh Radwan, killing the 54-year-old officer and injuring several others.

Gaza’s Health Ministry said hospitals across the enclave received six bodies and 37 wounded people over the past 48 hours, raising the death toll since the Oct. 11 ceasefire at 1,191 people with 3,853 others wounded.

Anadolu Ajansı reported that two Palestinians, including a senior police officer, were killed and at least 14 others injured in separate Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip on Saturday, with the attacks described as daily violations of a ceasefire agreement in effect since Oct. 10, 2025.

Anadolu Ajansı also said the Israeli drone strike in Sheikh Radwan killed Al-Maqadma and injured others, while a separate airstrike targeted a gathering outside Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, injuring 11 Palestinians.

Competing claims and reactions

The Gaza-run Interior Ministry framed the killing of Al-Muqaddama as part of Israeli targeting of police work, saying the assassination “represents an escalation by the occupation against the main pillars of police work, with the aim of sowing chaos in the Gaza Strip.”

In the same account, the ministry urged “the international community and mediator states to act urgently and pressure the occupation to stop targeting the police,” describing the police as “a civilian institution protected under international law.”

Anadolu Ajansı, citing medical and local sources, described the Saturday attacks as violations of a ceasefire agreement, and said Gaza’s Interior Ministry reported Al-Maqadma was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, northwest of Gaza City.

AnewZ reported that the Israeli military did not immediately comment on the reported strikes, while it said Israel has killed dozens of members of the Hamas-run police force in recent months, and Hamas rejected those claims as “violations of the U.S.-brokered ceasefire reached in October.”

AnewZ also said mediators including Egypt, Qatar, Türkiye and the United States continue efforts to advance U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to end the conflict, but negotiations have shown little progress.

Humanitarian toll and next risks

Beyond the killing of Al-Muqaddama, Gaza’s Health Ministry figures cited by Shafaq News and Anadolu Ajansı put the ceasefire-period toll at 1,191 Palestinians killed and 3,853 others wounded, with the overall toll since the war began on Oct. 7, 2023 reaching 73,317 Palestinians killed and 173,961 injured.

The Interior Ministry in Gaza announced the martyrdom of the director of police for the Northern Gaza Governorate after he was targeted by an Israeli drone in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, while sources at Gaza hospitals confirmed that 7 Palestinians were martyred and more than 20 injured by fire from occupation forces in the Gaza Strip since this morning, Saturday

Shafaq News said hospitals received six bodies and 37 wounded people over the past 48 hours, including four newly recovered victims and two people who later succumbed to earlier injuries.

Anadolu Ajansı added that widespread destruction has affected 90% of the enclave’s civilian infrastructure, while Gaza’s Interior Ministry and medical sources described additional strikes across the Strip on Saturday.

The Palestinian Information Center said the assassination came less than two weeks after the Jabalia Police Camp massacre on July 14, which claimed the lives of seven police officers and personnel, headed by the center’s director, and its deputy, Major Yamen Mohammed Obaid (48), who died this morning from serious injuries sustained in the attack.

The Palestinian Information Center also warned that the police apparatus continues to perform its duties in preserving citizens’ security and protecting civil peace within the Gaza Strip, and said it would not hesitate to fulfill its duty despite the grave challenges.
