Raid in al-Mughayyir
Two Palestinian teenagers were killed during a raid by settlers and Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank village of al-Mughayyir on Wednesday, according to Al Jazeera.

Al Jazeera reported that as residents tried to confront the settlers, Israeli soldiers opened fire on the residents, critically wounding two young men who later died from the wounds.
Al Jazeera also said sources from the village told it that snipers had taken positions on rooftops in the village ahead of the killings, and that the surging settler violence has roiled Israel’s allies.
In a separate account of the same incident, Reuters said the Israeli military entered al-Mughayyir to provide security for police officers and an Israeli civilian seeking to retrieve livestock, and that troops fired on and struck “key instigators” of a “violent disturbance.”
Detentions and competing counts
While the killings in al-Mughayyir were reported by Al Jazeera and Reuters, other outlets focused on raids and arrests across the occupied West Bank in the same period.
Al-Manar TV Lebanon said Israeli occupation forces arrested 21 Palestinians, including a journalist, during raids across the occupied West Bank early Thursday, with seven Palestinians in Bethlehem province and nine in Nablus.
Anadolu Ajansı reported that Israeli forces detained 12 Palestinians in overnight raids across the occupied West Bank, and that Israeli occupiers burned two vehicles in the town of Beita, south of Nablus.
Anadolu said the official Palestinian news agency WAFA stated that Israeli forces raided Balata refugee camp, east of Nablus, and detained three Palestinians, while also raiding a metal workshop in Nablus’ Old City and detaining the owner and his two sons.
In the same broader context of violence, France 24 cited the Palestinian Ministry of Health saying the Israeli army killed two Palestinians on Wednesday during its raid of al-Mughir, and quoted the ministry’s announcement of the deaths of Omar Mohammed Naji al-‘Ain, 19, and Khaleel Rasam Khaleel Shihada, 16.
Escalation and what’s at risk
Across the West Bank, Al Jazeera said that since the beginning of 2026 at least 79 Palestinians, including 19 children, have been killed in the occupied West Bank by settlers or Israeli forces, and that at least 1,870 Palestinians have been wounded.

Al Jazeera also reported that settler attacks in al-Mughayyer have largely focused on the village’s only access road, where vehicles have regularly been targeted, and referenced an incident on August 20 when 11 Palestinians were wounded.
In parallel, Anadolu said the Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission reported that occupiers carried out 628 attacks against Palestinians, their land and property during August, directly harming 164 Palestinians including 20 children and 17 women.
Anadolu further reported that the commission said Israeli occupiers targeted 21,508 trees, including 19,375 olive trees, and that about 750,000 Israeli occupiers live in 141 illegal settlements and 224 outposts in the occupied West Bank.
Al Jazeera also tied the latest violence to wider political pressure, noting that the European Union has been weighing a ban on settler-made goods and that UN Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Process Dr Ramiz Alakbarov said settler attacks have continued with “virtually no accountability.”
