The National Scot reported that doctors at the Arab Specialised Hospital said Zeid died after Israeli forces blocked his transfer to the hospital for more than an hour despite his critical medical condition, and that Israeli soldiers fired tear gas at Palestinians trying to pass through the checkpoint.

TRT World said Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governor Laila Ghannam told that doctors at the Istishari Arab Hospital announced the death after Israeli forces prevented the family from transferring him for over an hour despite his critical condition.
Ghannam added that Israeli soldiers blocked the family from crossing the checkpoint while firing tear gas canisters at Palestinians and vehicles, preventing the infant from reaching the hospital on time before he breathed his last.
Voices condemn restrictions
Laila Ghannam condemned the death as “a stain on the conscience of humanity,” saying it followed Israeli soldiers firing tear gas at Palestinians trying to pass through the checkpoint near Ramallah.
In the same account, Ghannam said the incident was part of “a policy pursued by Israel through military checkpoints, gates and road closures to obstruct the movement of Palestinians, patients and ambulances.”

She said the targeting of children—whether “through occupier attacks, direct killings, or by denying them medical treatment and leaving them to die at checkpoints”—“exposes the true face of the occupation.”
The National Scot also linked the incident to another fatal shooting, saying Israeli forces shot dead a 16-year-old boy at a refugee camp near Ramallah on Sunday, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
Wider toll and obstacles
The National Scot said Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement have killed 1066 Palestinians and injured 3445 others as of Sunday, according to Gaza's Health Ministry.

It added that since the start of Israel's genocide in Gaza on Oct. 8, 2023, Israel has killed more than 73,000 Palestinians and injured more than 173,000, in addition to widespread destruction affecting 90% of civilian infrastructure.
TRT World reported that in April 2026, the UN documented 925 movement obstacles across the occupied West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, with checkpoints and road gates accounting for nearly 60 percent of them.
In the West Bank incident, Al Jazeera said Ahmad Marouf Zeid died after his family’s urgent attempt to reach hospital was blocked by Israeli forces at a military checkpoint in the occupied West Bank.
