Sunday strikes and deaths
Israeli fire in Gaza on Sunday killed at least six Palestinians, including a 9-year-old girl, and wounded over a dozen others, according to local health officials in Deir al-Balah in the Gaza Strip.
“An Israeli drone attack and gunfire in Gaza have killed at least five people, including a nine-year-old girl, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry”
The AP reported that a drone strike on a blacksmith shop in Gaza City’s Sabra neighborhood killed at least four Palestinians, and the Israeli military acknowledged striking the area while saying it targeted “terrorist infrastructure.”

Roughly an hour later, intense airstrikes targeted the same blacksmith shop, and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society’s ambulance service said the strikes in Gaza City wounded 14 people.
In central Gaza, Israeli gunfire killed 9-year-old Tala Abu Matar in a displacement camp, according to officials at the Health Ministry, and the Israeli military said it was unaware of such an incident.
Ceasefire violations and disputes
Al Jazeera said an Israeli drone attack and gunfire in Gaza killed at least five people, including a nine-year-old girl, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, and it identified Tala Abu Matar as dying when Israeli gunfire targeted an encampment on the eastern side of the Al-Bureij refugee camp.
The outlet also said the continued attacks in Gaza are in violation of the ceasefire agreed last October by Israel and Hamas, while Israel has continued carrying out air strikes in Gaza, killing at least 1,098 Palestinians and wounding 3,535 during the so-called ceasefire.

AP reported that negotiations between Israel and Hamas remain largely deadlocked over the implementation of the ceasefire’s second phase, including the disarmament of Hamas and the reconstruction of Gaza.
AP added that Israel’s retaliatory offensive has killed 73,221 Palestinians, according to the Health Ministry, and that it does not distinguish between civilians and militants but says women and children make up around half of all deaths.
Casualties, displacement, and next talks
AP said at least 1,098 Palestinians, including at least 260 children, have been killed since the ceasefire took effect on Oct. 10, while five Israeli soldiers have been killed in that time.
“Medical sources for Al Jazeera said that the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, today Monday, have resulted in the killing of 3 Palestinians and injuries to 15 others in several strikes in the north, center, and south of the strip”
It also reported that the Oct. 7, 2023, attack by Hamas-led militants that sparked the war killed some 1,200 people in Israel and saw 251 others taken hostage.
Al Jazeera reported that Hamas leaders visited Cairo for further talks on implementing the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, with discussions including Hamas disarmament and Israeli army withdrawals.
Al Jazeera said the sources close to the talks told it that no breakthrough has been achieved, and it added that since the beginning of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023, the health ministry said at least 73,118 Palestinians have been killed.
