SANA said a four-month-old infant, Ahmad Marouf Zaid, died after Israeli forces denied passage through a military checkpoint to reach a waiting ambulance, and it said the family was blocked for more than an hour.

The BBC reported that on Sunday Israeli forces shot and killed Walid Abu Sneineh and wounded two other children in Qalandia, and it also said a critically ill four-month-old baby died after troops refused to open a gate blocking the main entrance to his village west of Ramallah.

The Guardian added that a four-month-old Palestinian baby, Ahmad Marouf Zaid, died after Israeli forces blocked his family from crossing a checkpoint to reach a waiting ambulance, and it said the family drove on unpaved and mountainous back roads to Ramallah themselves, delaying treatment by more than an hour.

Grenade footage and accusations

In the occupied West Bank, the Guardian reported that Israeli police opened an investigation after CCTV footage showed a border police officer throwing a stun grenade into a car carrying young Palestinians during a raid on the Qalandiya refugee camp.

The footage released by B’Tselem showed the officer approaching the car, shouting at its occupants, grabbing a stun grenade and throwing it through the open door, and the officer was heard shouting: “Shut your mouth. Who are you talking to like that?”

The BBC said B’Tselem told it that everyone in the car survived, and it reported that police told Israeli media the officer had not acted "in accordance with procedure".

The Guardian quoted B’Tselem executive director Yuli Novak saying: “The widespread and unprecedented killing of Palestinian children and teenagers in the West Bank is the result of a broader Israeli policy that allows the killing of Palestinians and violent abuse against them without any accountability.”

The BBC also reported that in a separate incident in Qalandia on Sunday, Israeli forces shot and killed Walid Abu Sneineh after Israeli authorities said they perceived an imminent threat to their lives during what they described as a violent riot.

Checkpoint deaths and broader toll

SANA said Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that Israeli attacks have killed 1,066 people and injured 3,445 others since the ceasefire took effect, and it said the overall death toll since October 2023 has risen to 73,090 killed and 173,553 injured.

The BBC reported that Ajith Sunghay, the head of the local UN human rights office, described the death of the four-month-old baby as "senseless" and "emblematic of an occupying power continuing to show utter disregard for the humanity and rights of Palestinians living under occupation".

VOI.id said the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates called Israeli military checkpoints "death checkpoints," and it said the ministry blamed Israel for the death of four-month-old Palestinian baby Ahmad Marouf Zaid after forces detained him and prevented medical treatment.

Haaretz reported that the Palestinian Red Crescent said the infant’s parents were told to bring him to the entrance of a refugee camp near Ramallah where an ambulance was waiting, but Israeli soldiers delayed his passage, while the IDF said troops had "allowed the baby and his family to pass without any delay."

The Guardian said an IDF spokesperson denied blocking the family from crossing to seek medical aid, and it reported that the family’s drive to Ramallah delayed treatment by more than an hour.
