Israeli Occupation Forces Fire Tear Gas at Al-Mughir School Near Ramallah

In the village of al-Mughir, northeast of Ramallah, Israeli occupation forces fired tear gas canisters toward a school during a new raid on Thursday, with Marzook Abu Na'im, deputy head of the al-Mughir Village Council, saying the raid advanced toward residential areas before densely firing tear gas toward al-Mughir Boys’ Secondary School.

Abu Na'im said the tear gas raid caused fear and confusion among students and the teaching staff, while adding that "no direct injuries" were reported so far.

Al-Masdar News said settler gangs burned agricultural lands in the plain near al-Mughir, causing a large fire, and that villagers tried to confront and extinguish it before events escalated with the Israeli occupation forces' raid on the village.

The same Al-Masdar News account described the occupation forces firing flares densely, along with tear gas canisters toward residents' homes, as the village and its surroundings in northeastern Ramallah witnessed repeated assaults including burning lands, attacks on property, and clashes with local residents.

WAFA’s May 15, 2023 tally described Israeli occupation forces escalating violations across the occupied Palestinian territories, including firing live and rubber bullets, sound bombs, and tear gas against Palestinians, their homes and property, alongside vandalism by extremist settlers.

In that WAFA account, Hebron University students were asphyxiated after inhaling tear gas fired by Israeli occupation forces near the university, with the correspondent saying soldiers fired tear gas canisters at students at the main gates.

In al-Mughir, Abu Na'im said the occupation forces raided during daytime hours, set up a military checkpoint at the western entrance, and prevented vehicles from passing normally, while the raid coincided with a wide military deployment inside the village.

Al-Masdar News similarly tied the escalation in al-Mughir to the combination of settler arson and Israeli action, describing occupation forces participating alongside settler groups as residents rushed to defend the village and confront the attack.

On June 27, 2026, WAFA reported that several Palestinians suffered from suffocation after Israeli occupation forces fired tear gas canisters into a home in the village of al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah, on Saturday evening.

Head of the al-Mughayyir Village Council Amin Abu Alia told WAFA that six Palestinians, including an elderly man with a heart condition, suffered from suffocation after tear gas canisters were fired into a home near the village's eastern entrance.

WAFA added that the tear gas canisters sparked a fire at the entrance to the house, and that Civil Defense crews extinguished the blaze, evacuated the injured, and transferred them for medical treatment.

In the same context, Abu Alia said Israeli forces stole sums of money from several Palestinians after subjecting them to thorough searches while they were passing through a military checkpoint set up at the village's western entrance, and that the occupation forces detained a Palestinian at the western entrance and assaulted him, as well as detaining a child before later releasing both.
