In Gaza City, Abou Adam said he came to pray in the “grande mosquée Omari de Gaza-ville” despite “la destruction des mosquées et des écoles,” and he added that Israeli soldiers remained stationed near the “Ligne jaune” since the ceasefire.

An AFP source told La Provence that artillery fire targeted Wednesday the east of Gaza City and a refugee camp in the center of the territory, even after the truce that began on 10 October.

La Provence also quoted Nivine Ahmed, a 50-year-old displaced Palestinian in the Al-Mawasi camp, saying “Notre joie est étouffée,” and it reported that reconstruction and the lifting of Israel’s siege were still delayed for more than two million Gaza residents.

The same AFP report said the two sides accuse each other of violating the truce, while “les tirs et les frappes restent quotidiens” in the Gaza Strip.

Deaths, displacement, and accusations

An Anadolu Ajansı report said the Israeli army killed three Palestinians, including a child, in new ceasefire violations, after an Israeli drone strike targeted a gathering of civilians on Al-Baraka Street in Deir al-Balah.

The BBC reported that hundreds of Palestinians were fleeing parts of the city of Gaza after Israel announced the start of the first phases of a planned ground offensive, with Israeli troops establishing a foothold on the outskirts of a city that houses more than a million Palestinians.

In Deir al-Balah, Anadolu Ajansı said the drone strike killed three and wounded several others, and it added that two other people were wounded by Israeli artillery fire targeting the Al-Salatin area in Beit Lahia.

The BBC quoted Ahmad al-Shanti to AFP describing the bombardment as “The house shakes all night, the sound of explosions, artillery fire, fighter jets, ambulances and cries for help are killing us,” and it said Amal Abdel-Aal described a sky “lit up all night.”

The BBC also reported that António Guterres renewed calls for an immediate ceasefire “to avoid the deaths and destruction” that an assault “would inevitably” cause, while Hamas accused Benjamin Netanyahu of pursuing a “brutal war against innocent civilians in the city of Gaza.”

Hostages, humanitarian warnings, and escalation

As fighting continued, the BBC said IDF spokesperson Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin told viewers that Hamas was “beaten and battered” after 22 months of war and that Israel would intensify damage to Hamas’s governance and military terror in the city of Gaza.

The BBC also quoted the ICRC warning that new displacement and intensified hostilities “could worsen an already catastrophic situation” for Gaza’s 2.1 million residents.

In parallel, Anadolu Ajansı reported that Israeli forces moved about 150 meters west of the concrete blocks marking the “Yellow Line,” expanding areas under occupation north of the Wadi Gaza Bridge, and it said Israel now controls more than 70% of the territory.

Anadolu Ajansı further stated that, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, Israeli violations of the ceasefire have killed 1,041 Palestinians and wounded 3,372 since October 10, 2025, and it added that nearly 90% of the enclave’s civilian infrastructure has been destroyed or damaged.

The BBC said Defrin claimed the Israeli army was doing everything possible to prevent the 50 hostages still held by Hamas in Gaza from being harmed, while the ICRC warned that any further intensification could threaten an “irreversible humanitarian crisis.”
