Israeli Strikes Kill 3 In Nabatieh, Lebanon, Despite Ceasefire

Fresh Israeli strikes killed 3 people in southern Lebanon in violation of a ceasefire, the Express Tribune reported, citing Lebanon’s National News Agency.

The agency said an Israeli airstrike targeted a pickup truck on the Habboush road near the vehicle registration office building in the Nabatieh district, killing two people, and that a drone strike targeted a car haulier truck near the Safa station on the Mifdoun road, killing one.

At around 7.30am (0430GMT), the towns of Habboush, Deir al-Zahrani and Kfour came under heavy artillery shelling, according to the same account.

The Express Tribune also said that despite a ceasefire announced on April 17 and extended until May 17, the Israeli army continues daily strikes in Lebanon and widespread demolition of homes in dozens of villages.

In Nabatieh, the Middle East Eye said Israeli warplanes and drones struck on Wednesday morning, killing one person and injuring several others, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency.

It added that strikes hit the vicinity of the Evangelical School, destroying two residential buildings and damaging nearby homes and shops, and that the attacks cut the main road leading to the town of Nabatieh al-Fawqa.

L’Orient Today’s live updates described the Nabatieh region as heavily targeted by the Israeli army and said that an Israeli army vehicle passed in front of destroyed buildings in southern Lebanon on May 7, 2026.

The same live coverage also reported that the Israeli army called for the forced evacuation of three villages in the Nabatieh district, including Bfarweh (also known as Kfarweh), and ordered residents to move at least one kilometer away from their homes.

The Express Tribune put the scale of the broader campaign in Lebanon at “at least 2,715 people” killed, “8,353” wounded, and “more than 1.6 million” displaced since March 2, citing the latest official figures.

It also said Israel has advanced about 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) inside the southern border during the current conflict, while occupying areas in southern Lebanon including some held for decades and others since the 2023-2024 war.

In parallel, the Express Tribune said the ceasefire announced on April 17 and extended until May 17 was still supposed to be in effect as daily strikes continued.

With the Nabatieh district repeatedly targeted and evacuation orders issued for villages including Habboush and Deir al-Zahrani, the immediate consequence in the sources is continued shelling, strikes, and displacement toward cities such as Sidon and Beirut.
