1,000 Days of War
Thursday marked 1,000 days of Israel's genocidal war on Gaza, with the NB Media Co-op noting that more than 90 per cent of the Gaza Strip has been destroyed and Israeli forces control 80 per cent of the territory, according to Al Jazeera.
“1000 days is not a mere number in memory, but a full period formed under bombardment, fear, and displacement”
The NB Media Co-op essay by Rizek Abdel Jawad says more than 73,000 martyrs have fallen so far and more than 173,000 wounded, while it describes Gaza City where he is “forced to live in a displacement camp.”

TRT World reported that the fate of over 2 million Palestinians in besieged Gaza remains uncertain, and it said Israeli forces occupied over half of the territory under the ceasefire that took effect on October 10.
TRT World added that Palestinians are still being killed by Israeli strikes that have lessened since the ceasefire, and it cited the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza counting 1,053 Palestinians killed since the ceasefire as of Tuesday, including over 350 women and children.
Ceasefire, Occupation, and Dispute
TRT World said the ceasefire that took effect on October 10 left Israeli forces occupying over half of the territory, while it also reported that Israel's government has expanded that and says it aims to hold 70 percent.
Nicolas von Arx, the International Committee of the Red Cross regional director, told TRT World, “Much more needs to be done so that even a semblance of normality can come back, and we are far, far away from this.”

TRT World reported that further ceasefire steps have stalled, including Hamas's disarmament and the immense task of reconstruction, and it said the top diplomat overseeing the ceasefire, Nickolay Mladenov, made clear that the next steps are stalled over the issue of Hamas disarming.
In the same TRT World account, Hamas insisted that disarmament can only follow steps including withdrawing from Gaza rather than expanding its occupation under the pretext of the "Yellow Line" and halting the daily killings that have continued even under the ceasefire.
Humanitarian Stakes and Future
France 24 reported that the body under the Israeli Defense Ministry and in charge of civil affairs in the Palestinian territories (COGAT) announced that “tents and other shelter equipment will be provided starting tomorrow, Sunday, as part of the IDF's preparations to move the population from the combat zones toward the southern Gaza Strip for their protection.”

France 24 also quoted Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal saying, “We estimate that more than 50,000 people remain in the Zeitoun district, most without water or food,” and it added that the army questioned the figures and said Gaza institutions are controlled and directed by Hamas.
The NB Media Co-op essay described hospitals that fought without medicine, without electricity, without fuel, while doctors performed surgeries by the light of their phones or amidst the sounds of shelling.
Al-Jazeera Net framed the 1,000 days as a period in which Gaza’s area “does not exceed 365 square kilometers” and is “home to more than two million Palestinians,” and it said the enclave was subjected to intensive military operations that caused widespread destruction of infrastructure and an unprecedented aggravation of the humanitarian catastrophe.
