Sinner ends Djokovic bid
Jannik Sinner dismantled Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon semi-final on Friday, winning 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 to end Djokovic’s bid for an eighth title at the All England Club.
The Guardian reported that Sinner, the top seed, will face the second seed and recent French Open champion Alexander Zverev in the final after the German defeated Arthur Fery 7-6 (0), 6-2, 6-4.
Sports Illustrated said Djokovic called the result a "good old blowout" during his post-match press conference after losing in straight sets.
BBC described Djokovic’s run as reaching a Wimbledon semi-final at 39, but then being "ruthlessly swept aside" by world number one Jannik Sinner in straight sets.
Al Jazeera said Sinner powered to a 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory on Centre Court over the 39-year-old Djokovic to set up a title showdown with Alexander Zverev.
Djokovic disputes the narrative
After the defeat, Djokovic took offense to a reporter’s question suggesting his effort level had changed this season, interrupting with "Wrong."
Sports Illustrated quoted Djokovic saying, "I just said you're wrong" and adding, "I don't agree with your opinion."
BBC framed Djokovic’s view of the outcome as "For me, it's good but not good enough," after reaching the Wimbledon semi-final at 39.
Andre Agassi, speaking on BBC TV, prefaced the match by giving Djokovic little chance of success and said, "In this sport, as in life, hope is fragile but hard to kill."
BBC also noted that Djokovic created just one break-point opportunity—when he was two sets and a break down—and that Sinner saved it with an ace.

Sinner’s win moved him one step from a second straight Wimbledon title, and Sports Illustrated said he will face Alexander Zverev in the gentlemen's final on Sunday, July 12.

BBC said Djokovic hoped to come back "at least once more" after the defeat, while also pointing to the absence of Carlos Alcaraz this year and the challenge of facing Sinner as world number one.
