Holdout Says She Planned
The trial of Lindsay Clancy ended in a mistrial after the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict, and the lone holdout juror Michael Desronvil said he had "no doubt" she deliberately killed her three children.

Desronvil said, "Based on all the physical evidence, key witnesses and what the prosecution presents, I thought it was enough proof that she knew exactly what she was doing and planned it," describing the evidence as supporting criminal responsibility.
Clancy admitted to the killings, and prosecutors said the killings were calculated while her lawyers argued she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.
The BBC reported that Judge William Sullivan declared the mistrial on 4 September after nearly 40 hours of deliberating, and that the jury was nine women and three men considering options including not guilty by reason of insanity, manslaughter and first-degree murder.
Jurors Clash Over Doubt
Fellow jurors described a split dynamic in which they tried to persuade Desronvil to change his mind, with Paula Devlin saying the panel worked together to reach a 10 to 2 point.
Devlin told CBS Mornings that Desronvil was cut off as if he had doubts, and she said the foreperson described the deadlock as "awful" and an "emotional rollercoaster".
NBC News reported that Desronvil’s lawyer Edward Andrew Paltzik said the holdout juror would not be giving interviews, quoting Paltzik: "None. NZero."
NBC News also said Desronvil told the court he was not following the reasonable doubt standard and was blocking a unanimous decision before Sullivan declared a mistrial on Sept. N4.
Next Steps and Legal Risk
With the case unresolved, prosecutors have not said whether they will seek a retrial, while Clancy’s lawyer Kevin Reddington said he hopes to reach an agreement with prosecutors to avoid a second trial.

NBC News said prosecutors for the commonwealth of Massachusetts must now decide whether to retry Clancy, and it reported that Reddington has filed a motion to drop the charges with the next hearing scheduled for Sept. N29.
CT Insider reported that attorney Edward Andrew Paltzik announced he had been retained by the holdout juror and said the juror was staying at "an undisclosed secure location in a rural area of Northern New England."
The Independent en Español reported that District Attorney Timothy Cruz has not confirmed whether the state will retry Clancy, while also stating the next court hearing is scheduled for September 29 at the Plymouth Superior Court.
