Marex Group invested in Digital Prime Technologies to expand institutional crypto lending. Investment will support development of Tokenet, a digital asset lending platform.

Marex backs Tokenet
Marex Group, a Nasdaq-listed financial services firm, invested an undisclosed amount in Digital Prime Technologies to expand institutional crypto lending and support the continued development of Tokenet, a digital asset lending and borrowing platform built by Digital Prime in partnership with EquiLend. The companies announced Wednesday that the investment will back Tokenet’s development, and Digital Prime said last week that Tokenet had surpassed $1 billion in lending inventory and more than $1 billion in borrowing demand from its launch partners.
Cointelegraph and TradingView both describe the $1 billion and more than $1 billion figures as measures of digital assets available to lend and borrowing interest expressed by participating institutions, rather than completed loans. TradingView also says launch partners included Galaxy Digital and Ripple Prime, among others, as Marex positions the investment as part of its strategy to expand its institutional digital assets business.

Securities-lending workflows
Tokenet is presented as an institutional-grade digital and tokenized asset lending marketplace that applies “proven securities lending workflows, risk controls, and lifecycle management” to digital and tokenized assets. In the Morningstar/PR Newswire release, Steve Hood, Head of Clearing Americas at Marex, said, "The demand from institutional investors for digital assets is growing, and the tools we use to service clients need to be built with the high operational and risk management standards financial institutions already rely upon."
The same release quotes James Runnels, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Digital Prime Technologies, saying, "This investment reinforces our vision of creating the institutional operating model for digital asset lending." Morningstar also frames the collaboration as Marex, Digital Prime Technologies and Galaxy Digital working with EquiLend to establish institutional infrastructure so traditional financial institutions can participate in digital asset lending using familiar operating models, controls, and workflows.

Institutional adoption push
Beyond the Marex-Digital Prime deal, the sources place the move in a broader push by traditional finance toward digital-asset infrastructure, noting that other institutions including Barclays, BNY and Wells Fargo have targeted different segments of the industry.
TradingView says the investment makes Marex “the latest major financial services company to expand its digital asset business through investments in crypto market infrastructure,” and it lists other segments targeted by institutions from stablecoin infrastructure to tokenized deposits.
Separately, Two Prime’s October 14th, 2026 New York City symposium, The Signal, is described as a one-day, invitation-only event exploring how large holders of digital assets are positioning themselves amid an evolving regulatory environment and price compression.
In that Two Prime announcement, Alexander S. Blume, CEO of Two Prime, said, "The market has moved beyond askingwhetherinstitutions will adopt digital assets tohowthey will manage, finance, and lend against them."
