Bier Steps Down
Nikita Bier stepped down as head of product at X after just over a year, writing that it was time to “pass the torch and demote myself to my natural state: a poster.”

Bier said he would “be stepping back from leading product for X and will continue on as an advisor,” while confirming he would remain with the company.
He described running the app as “a 24/7 job” and said “it’s now time for me to take a breather,” as he marked the end of day-to-day responsibility for the platform’s product organisation.
Bier’s announcement came after he took over the product lead role in July 2025, and he said during his tenure X rebuilt “nearly every major part of the platform” over the past 400 days, including the timeline, Android app, onboarding, notifications and chat features.
He also said the company launched nearly 30 new products during that period and that the app climbed 70 places in Apple’s App Store rankings compared with the same period last year.
Who Takes Over
In his post, Bier said the next leaders would continue the company’s product, design and engineering work, naming Benji Taylor, Singhai and Dinkin Flicka.
He wrote that “the next leaders will take X to even greater heights with @benjitaylor on design, @singhai on core product engineering and @dinkin_flickaa on mobile engineering -- among many other great people.”
Bier also thanked Elon Musk and the wider X team for the opportunity, while saying he was confident the next generation of leaders would continue to drive the platform forward.
Business Insider reported that Bier and representatives for X did not respond to a request for comment.
The Verge said Bier shared the update just over a month after celebrating his one-year anniversary on the job and just weeks after Elon Musk’s combined SpaceX / X / xAI companies went public.
Scandals and Roadmap
Bier’s tenure included work he linked to “protecting the integrity of the town square,” while TechCrunch said he was also head of product during a number of scandals at X.

Bier’s own message framed the transition as personal and operational, writing “X is, and will remain, the most important communication technology in history,” while reiterating that “running this app is a 24/7 job” before stepping aside.
