Pereira sacked, Glasner
Nottingham Forest sacked Vítor Pereira and moved to appoint Oliver Glasner as his replacement after activating a break clause in Pereira’s contract late on Tuesday.

The Telegraph said Forest activated the clause at 11.58pm on Tuesday night, two minutes before it expired, with Pereira learning of his departure in an email received just before midnight.
Pereira had replaced Sean Dyche in February and led Forest to Premier League safety, but the club’s turbulence at the City Ground left them finishing 16th, one point and position behind Palace.
Forest were offered the chance to appoint Glasner on a three-year contract after he left Crystal Palace at the end of the season, and the Austrian is expected to start without Elliot Anderson, who is poised to complete a £116m move to Manchester City.
Pereira’s shock, Palace
Pereira described his exit as a shock, saying it came as a “complete surprise to me and without any warning,” and he added that he was “disappointed and saddened.”
The BBC reported that Pereira was informed of the decision late on Tuesday evening, and it quoted his statement that “Although this decision came as a complete surprise to me and without any warning, I fully respect the club's right to make the decisions it believes are best for its future.”
The Telegraph framed the move as likely to “go down badly at Selhurst Park,” pointing to tensions after Palace qualified for the Europa League by winning the FA Cup but were demoted to the Conference League due to Uefa’s multi-club ownership rules.
Sky Sports said Glasner is in talks to replace Pereira, and it noted that the Austrian is a free agent after his Palace deal officially expired on Wednesday 1 July 2026 19:42, UK.
Next steps for Forest
Forest’s appointment of Glasner comes after a rapid managerial turnover at the City Ground, with the Guardian saying that since Nuno left in August the club have gone through head coaches including Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche.

The Guardian said Glasner won the Conference League as his last act in charge of Palace and impressed there in “sometimes trying circumstances,” and it added that he announced in January that he would not renew his contract.
The Telegraph said Pereira was hired in February on an 18-month deal and steered Forest to Premier League safety following the sacking of Sean Dyche, while also noting that Forest lost in the semi-final of the Europa League to eventual winners Aston Villa.
With Glasner set to replace Pereira, Forest are targeting Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall as a potential replacement, and the Guardian said the intention is that Glasner will bring the long-term stability the club yearn for.
