Heatwave Forecast
Palestinian Meteorological Department forecasts described an extremely hot, dry pattern intensifying across the country, with temperatures rising to about 5 degrees Celsius above the annual average on Monday.

On Tuesday, the forecast said mountainous areas would be hot and dry while the remaining areas would be extremely hot, with a slight drop in temperatures to about 4 degrees Celsius above the annual average.
The Wednesday outlook kept temperatures about 4 degrees above the annual average, with winds described as northwesterly, light to moderate, sometimes active, and seas light to moderate in height.
On Thursday, the forecast repeated hot and dry conditions in mountainous areas and extremely hot conditions elsewhere, with no change to temperatures remaining about 4 degrees above the annual average and winds northwesterly, light to moderate, sometimes active.
Warnings and Advice
The Meteorological Service warned citizens against direct sun exposure for extended periods, especially during peak hours from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
It also cautioned against lighting fires in areas where dry herbs spread quickly, citing the possibility of rapid fire spread under hot and dry conditions.
The Meteorological Service emphasized not to leave children or the elderly inside closed vehicles, warning that high temperatures inside cars can pose a life-threatening risk.
Citizens were advised to drink plenty of water and fluids and to limit direct sun exposure during hours of high temperatures.
Day-to-Day Shifts
A Wafa News Agency forecast said the heatwave would be driven by a very hot air mass, with temperatures rising to about 3 degrees Celsius above the annual average on Sunday, August 9, 2026.
“today, Sunday, August 9, 2026, that Palestine’s weather will be affected by a very hot air mass, causing temperatures to rise to about 3 degrees Celsius above the annual average”
It said that on Monday the impact deepens, producing very hot and dry conditions in most areas and another rise in temperatures to about 5 degrees Celsius above the annual average.
On Tuesday, the Wafa forecast described very hot and dry weather in most areas with no significant change in temperatures, which stay about 5 degrees Celsius above the annual average.
The same forecast said on Wednesday there is a slight rise in temperatures, with hot daytime conditions across various regions while temperatures remain higher than usual in the plains and coastal areas.
