Tallahassee shooting injures

A Saturday evening shooting near Florida A&M University’s Bragg Memorial Stadium in Tallahassee left at least 12 people injured, including six children, police said. Tallahassee Chief of Police Lawrence Revell told reporters during a late-night press conference that "Eleven of those who were injured had gunshot wounds" and that "We know our youngest victim is 11 years old."

Police described the shooting as an "altercation [that] occurred between individuals" near the intersection of Perry and Manatee streets, just outside Florida A&M University’s Bragg Memorial Stadium. Florida A&M said in a statement that it was aware of an incident that occurred near campus on Perry Street on the evening of October 24, and the Tallahassee Police Department was on the scene and actively investigating the situation.

No arrests, investigation

Tallahassee police said in a statement that at least three shooting victims have sustained serious injuries, while nine others are reported to be in stable condition. Lawrence Revell told reporters that no arrests had been made, and he said, "Tonight, our thoughts are with the victims and their families as they face the devastating impact of this violence," while adding that it was especially heartbreaking that children were among those injured.

Revell said the preliminary investigation indicates that a fight broke out prior to the shooting, and he described the incident as an altercation that occurred between two or three individuals. The university said on social media that the shooting happened near its campus and that it remained safe, while the Tallahassee Police Department continued investigating and processing information at the scene.
