Slate’s $24,950 EV Truck
Slate Auto began taking preorders for its electric pickup truck at $24,950, with the company saying the vehicle is “the most affordable pickup truck in America.”
The truck’s projected battery range is around 205 miles, and its rear-mounted motor can produce 201 horsepower, according to FOX 5 DC’s summary of information from the Slate website.

Torque News said Slate “quietly changed four key specs before opening orders,” including moving to a single US-built battery using lower-lithium iron phosphate technology offering 205 miles of range.
Torque News also reported that mass is up about 400 pounds, towing capacity has doubled to 2,000 pounds, payload is 1,550 pounds, and power is down from 201hp to 181hp.
Outside Magazine said the $24,950 Slate has crank windows and no touchscreen, and that first deliveries are expected in Q4 2026.
Warsaw Production and Preorders
Slate’s truck is being manufactured in Warsaw at the former RR Donnelley plant along Old 30, and the company’s release said the price makes the Slate Auto truck “the most affordable truck in America.”
Timesuniononline reported that Slate CEO Peter Faricy said, “More than 180,000 reservation holders have told us they’re ready for a vehicle that’s affordable, reliable, and built around their lives.”

WANE 15 said prospective buyers can claim a delivery window with a $300 non-refundable deposit, and that deliveries are expected to start later this year.
Timesuniononline added that Slate sells directly to the consumer and that preorder cost for existing reservation holders who have paid $50 is only $250.
WANE 15 reported that Slate will build the trucks at the former R.R. Donnelly printing plant on West Old Road 30 just west of downtown Warsaw and that it is expected to employ 2,000 people once up and fully running.
Charging, Warranty, and Service
FOX 5 DC said the Slate truck will be compatible with North American Charging Standard chargers for DC fast charging, and that its battery can be charged to 80% in about 30 minutes.

MotorTrend reported that fast charging from 20 to 80 percent should take 30 minutes, and that a Level 2 charge from 20 percent to full should take about four hours.
Torque News said RepairPal was announced last fall as Slate’s service partner, with over 200 locations certified for EV repair.
The Verge said Slate offers more than 200 accessories, with 80% of them costing under $500, and that for roughly $5,000 owners can convert the two-seat pickup into a five-seat SUV.
Outside Magazine said you can preorder it now at Slate.auto for $300, and that if you already dropped $50 on a reservation, it’s only $250 more to convert.
