Tokenized RWAs could reach $4 trillion by 2028, according to Standard Chartered. Chainlink price target set at $200 by end-2030 due to RWA demand.

Standard Chartered’s LINK Bet
Standard Chartered forecast that tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) could reach $4 trillion by the end of 2028, and that the Chainlink (LINK) token could rise to $200 by the end of 2030, up from roughly $8 at the time of the report. Geoff Kendrick, Standard Chartered’s global head of digital asset research, tied the outlook to the idea that tokenized assets will require more external data to securely reach blockchains, which he said could boost Chainlink’s fee generation.
The same forecast projected that tokenized and crypto-native decentralized finance (DeFi) assets could reach $2.7 trillion by 2030, framing DeFi growth as part of a broader “data plumbing” demand for oracle services. Cointelegraph reported that tokenized RWA trading on decentralized exchanges reached a new all-time high of $141 billion in July, representing a 19.5% month-over-month increase, according to CryptoRank data cited in the coverage.

Oracles, Fees, and Risks
Standard Chartered’s case for LINK also rested on Chainlink’s position in cross-chain oracle infrastructure, with the coverage citing $34.4 billion in total value secured for Chainlink and $7.36 billion for Chronicle, attributed to DeFiLlama oracle data. In the same report, Kendrick warned that the LINK price path to $200 by 2030 was not guaranteed, listing risks including slower-than-expected institutional tokenization, competition from other oracle providers, and possible technical setbacks.
Yellow described the forecast as a stepped path of $13 by year-end, then $41, $82 and $133 before reaching $200, while also saying LINK was trading around $8.22 on Monday near the reference price used in the research note. Yellow further said Kendrick’s note assumed Chainlink charges for supplying data and for moving assets between different blockchains, so the bank modeled fee-based revenue multiplying by about 25 times over the period.

What Could Drive Adoption
The forecast’s mechanics, as described in the coverage, linked tokenized asset growth to infrastructure needs like data feeds, interoperability across networks, privacy-preserving compliance, and integration with established financial systems. Crucially, the sources framed Chainlink’s role as extending beyond price feeds into interoperability and compliance-related tooling, with one account saying Chainlink’s decentralized oracle network and Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) already provide core services such as external data feeds and cross-chain messaging.
The same coverage pointed to institutional and infrastructure activity as part of the backdrop, including Chainlink’s involvement in a Hong Kong Tokenized Securities Framework with participants including Cyberport, Apex Group, FORMS HK, and CSpro on August 5. Standard Chartered’s thesis also emphasized that tokenized assets and crypto-native DeFi positions could expand, but it cautioned that slower institutional adoption, increased competition from other oracle providers, or technical failures could weigh on the long-term outlook.
