Starcloud Becomes Fastest YC Unicorn with $1.1 Billion Valuation
Starcloud raised $170 million Series A at a $1.1 billion valuation, fastest YC unicorn. Series A led by Benchmark and EQT Ventures.
Rapid Rise
Starcloud raised $170 million at a $1.1 billion valuation. It became YC's fastest unicorn, just 17 months after demo day. The first satellite carried an Nvidia H100 GPU, the most powerful in space by 100 times.
Orbital Data Centers
Starcloud aims to build modular computing facilities in low Earth orbit. The company will launch Starcloud-2 with multiple GPUs, including an Nvidia Blackwell chip. Starcloud 3 is planned as a 200 kilowatt, three-ton spacecraft designed for Starship launch.
Challenges and Vision
Launch costs and technology readiness remain challenges. Commercial Starship access is expected in 2028 or 2029. Permitting and building new data centers on Earth can take up to five years.
