Spurs pursue City duo
Tottenham are in talks with Manchester City over a double deal for forwards Savinho and Omar Marmoush, with BBC Sport saying negotiations are progressing but no agreement has yet been reached.

The BBC report says Spurs’ interest in Savinho dates back to 2025, when the 22-year-old opted to remain at Etihad Stadium, and it adds that he was limited to just seven starts in the Premier League last season.B
For Marmoush, BBC Sport says he was a £59m signing from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2025, fell out of favour under Pep Guardiola in 2025-26, and managed eight goals in 36 appearances in all competitions.B
BBC Sport also reports that Tottenham head coach Roberto de Zerbi has revamped his midfield this summer by signing Mateus Fernandes from West Ham and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle for a combined £185m, while Spurs kick off their Premier League campaign away at Brentford on Saturday (17:30 BST).B
Cost estimates and readiness
Sky Sports News’ Ben Ransom said both Savinho and Marmoush are “essentially surplus to requirements at Manchester City,” adding that if City receive an offer that is acceptable, they “will not stand in their way.”
Sky Sports News also framed the timing pressure by saying, “the transfer window is closing in less than a fortnight,” with “big positions to fill so late in the window.”
Other outlets put different price tags on the same target, with Flashscore saying the three forward signings Spurs are pursuing would come at a combined cost of around £200 million.
Meanwhile, Football London said Spurs might need to spend more than £150m to sign both players before the September 1 deadline, and it cited The Times as the basis for that estimate.
Window stakes and squad impact
The Guardian reported that City’s talks with Tottenham over the sale of Savinho and Omar Marmoush are “worth about £150m,” while also noting that no agreement has been reached but negotiations are understood to be progressing well.

The Guardian added that City are already reshaping Enzo Maresca’s midfield, including buying Elliot Anderson for £116m and closing in on the £85m signing of Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi, as well as selling Tijjani Reijnders to Al-Qadsiah in a deal worth about £51m.
For Spurs, the BBC report said their attack is a priority after a 17th-placed finish in the Premier League last term, when they scored just 48 goals in 38 games, and it said Spurs remain interested in Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo.B
