1,800 mph black triangles
Newly declassified US government files describe black triangular objects travelling at speeds of up to 1,800 mph over secret US military bases on at least three occasions in the past year, with the exact dates and locations redacted for security reasons. The files say observers estimated that one object travelled 1.5 miles in three seconds, equivalent to around 1,800 mph, and the observers described the object as making no sound, showing no visible exhaust, and producing a consistent heat signature when scanned with thermal equipment. The Department of War memo cited in the files describes another triangular object as having an exterior that appeared seamless and featureless, with no visible propulsion openings, air intakes, aerodynamic control surfaces or cockpit.
The files also say the two primary witnesses reported no physical effects such as nausea, headaches, disorientation, memory gaps or unusual sensory experiences. The Trump administration’s initiative to disclose information about unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs) released the seventh batch of government files on Friday, and the documents still do not establish the objects’ origin.
Witness accounts and images
Two senior military observers reported seeing a mysterious black triangular object flying at an extraordinarily high speed over a sensitive site in the western United States earlier this year, and the report to the defence department said the unidentified object showed none of the characteristics associated with conventional military aircraft. The observers’ account submitted to the defence department says the object disappeared suddenly and silently within seconds, leaving behind no exhaust trail or any other evidence of its presence. The report includes nine copies of the same canyon image, with tiny triangle shapes added to show how the object was said to have moved, and Greg Eghigian said, "I don't think it really adds anything substantive to the report itself,".
The Guardian said the black triangles report features nine identical images of the same unidentified canyon with tiny, trilateral silhouettes crudely added to replicate the movement of the object the observers said they saw. The Guardian also quoted Greg Eghigian saying, "This does indeed look like little more than a black triangle shape superimposed on a landscape background to illustrate the report."
Pentagon disclosure and what’s next
The Department of War of the United States published on October 23 the seventh release of declassified files about Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), under the Presidential Opening and UAP Encounters Reporting System (PURSUE). Sean Parnell, a Pentagon spokesperson, said, "The Department of War and our partner agencies are actively working on the upcoming UAP file release," as the collection spans sightings from the 1950s to recent incidents in 2026 at sensitive military installations in the United States. A memo from the Office of All-Domain Anomaly Resolution (AARO) documented sightings of a triangular object over a sensitive national security site in the western United States during two days in 2026, and the witnesses described a black triangular object that rose vertically, remained stationary, and then descended toward a canyon.
The memo records that the object measured approximately 2.7 meters in length, with a wingspan of 3.9 meters, traveled 2.5 kilometers in less than three seconds to an altitude of 61 to 91 meters, and a ground search found no debris or evidence of impact. The files also include an investigation report from a Utah ranch in April 2010 produced by Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies (BAASS) as part of the Advanced Aerospace Weapons Systems Applications Program (AAWSAP) of the Defense Intelligence Agency, and the report records accounts of "bipedal dog-like creatures," orbs of light, "small persons," and birds of "prehistoric appearance."
