UAE Ministry of Education Announces Sunday Decision on Remote Or In-Person Learning

The UAE Ministry of Education said a decision on whether pupils should return to classrooms or continue learning remotely will be announced on Sunday evening, May 10, after an assessment of the current situation in co-ordination with relevant authorities.

The ministry added that examinations and international assessments would proceed in-person in accordance with the approved plans, and it said educational institutions are ready to transition between different learning models when needed.

Schools and universities have been conducting online classes since Tuesday as a result of renewed Iranian attacks on the UAE, and the ministry said the measure was taken to ensure the safety and well-being of the educational community.

The National also said the government previously mandated that the education sector shift to remote learning at the beginning of March, and that schools and nurseries across the Emirates began reopening their doors on April 20 with strict safety rules in place.

Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority will announce on Sunday, May 10, whether private schools will continue with distance learning or return to in-person classes, and the decision will follow an assessment in coordination with relevant authorities.

Gulf News said the update is aimed at ensuring the safety of students and staff while maintaining continuity of the education process, and it added that examinations will continue to be conducted in person in line with approved plans.

The National described the ministry’s approach as affirming the readiness of educational institutions to transition between different learning models when needed, and it said any further updates or developments will be announced through the official communication channels.
