Iran past threat of collapse from surprise attack, IRGC official says

A senior official of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says Iran has moved past the threat of collapse under foreign military aggression.

Brigadier General Yadollah Javani, who serves as political deputy to the IRGC chief commander, said the Iranian armed forces are ready to respond to any new miscalculation by the United States and its allies.

The general made the remarks on Wednesday amid reports that the US and the Israeli regime may carry out new attacks against Iran, more than seven months after they failed in a joint aggression against the country.

"We are in a situation where the enemy may once again commit a miscalculation, but others assess that the Islamic Republic of Iran has passed the stage where a surprise military aggression could lead to the collapse of the country," he said during a meeting in the northeastern province of Golestan.

The general said the Iranian armed forces are prepared to respond decisively to any possible mistakes by the aggressors.

He said Iran has redesigned and improved the deployment of its military assets and forces across a vast geography, suggesting that such a new defense pattern would neutralize plots by the US to launch a ground invasion of Iran.

"This means a popular presence on the battlefield that denies the enemy the ability to carry out its intended actions," Javani said.

The senior IRGC official also dismissed the significance of a US maritime blockade on Iran, saying the blockade will not work because of Iran's special geography and its connections and interdependencies with neighbors and countries beyond the region.
